This is the common behavior of most of retail Investors. I just assumed their behavior not to insult them but to show reality...Think there is a investor called A

Day 1- A got an information about particular share X which was increased in last couple of days further came to know that some big player (eg NP) has been involved. So he suddenly buy 30%-50% amount of his portfolio without doing any study/Home work and end of the day he has unrealized gain about 3%-5%. Very Happy

Day 2- Early morning he posts in Sri Lanka equity forum as "Today watch list X share or KIT on X share". Early morning X share start ruining showing about 10% of unrealized gain but evening selling comes and price go down and end of the day he has likely 2% of unrealized loss. Evil or Very Mad

Day 3 - Early morning he posts in Sri Lanka equity forum as "Why X share went down yesterday and seems some one is collecting that" Once trading starts it shows slight increase and gradually price goes down further. Shocked

Day 4 - Price further goes down and he buys another Qty to average that. He further posts in Sri Lanka equity forum as "X share is now trading @ very attractive price/ It might hit soon"

Day 5 - Price further goes down. silent

Day 6 - Price further go down or stagnant. He posts in Sri Lanka equity forum as "Please advice me. My portfolio loss is Rs XXXX. I have bought this @ Rs Y.
Will this up soon ?? "
pale

Day 7 - He sold those share with loss. He posts in Sri Lanka equity forum as "What are the good shares to buy now ?? " Question

From Day 8 - Refer from Day 1 + lol!

This is a lesson not an insult.

Lesson - Do your own study before buying anything

So what we need to learn is stoploss orders. I also learnt recently. The idea is selling when our buy descision was wrong keeping our max loss 7-8 %in a trade. This is like an insurance policy. There maybe new modifications to this but as a rule of thumb 7-8% is the max loss you should take in a buying venture.

What I wanted to tell is "Do your own study before buying anything" and "Don't buy just because of others buy" rather than profit margin.

Thanks for +reps and comments
