Trading activities of the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) have been halted as the ATS system that facilitates trading is currently undergoing a technical failure, a CSE official said.

“The IT Department is currently working on it and we hope to restore the system shortly” the official said.

If such things happen [ Trading Haulted due to technical error], What will happen to the Credit clearance [ T+3] if the last date indicated as today[19-09-2011]

It is the sad part of the story!
Places like CSE, where highly depended on technology should have timely and correctly invested on backup and recovery procedures. otherwise..... failures like this not a surprice
Does anyone have an idea of average income to the CSE per day?

Now it is time for them to give a deep thought on their systems and back up systems. Another failure of this nature in the future will not be in favour of CSE as it is in process of trying to win the confidence of investors and attract more investors in the future. Wish that they can achieve this without becoming "Colombo Stop Exchange "

looks like it's gonna be like this for the entire day.. just less than 1 hour remaining anyway.. Stock Market loss a whole day of trading.. what a shame.. Sad

I agree with U. But Poor investor (not manipulators) have no option other than CSE as long as they want to invest in stocks.

Either we need to live with the problem or we need to get out from CSE. I don't think small investors (like we) in a position to put a pressure or influence. Unless big players could do something for the investor community.
