ECL didn't have any issue on liquidity. It would be fairly ok if the subdivision is 2:1. But I believe 7:1 is too much for lower valued share like ECL.

May be buki, cars should do a split 1:150 :-D

ECL is around Rs. 25. What are they playing at? Do they want to be a Nawaloka?
Who gains from this? Shouldn't the ECL concentrate on finding new customers, increase their profits, minimize their expenses, expand their business?
It looks like splitting is the only thing Sri Lankan companies are capable of. This shows the state of Sri Lankan companies and their management.

There are companies like DIMO, ASHO, CFIN, NEH, BFL, LCEY, HDFC, EBCR, CFLB desperately need for share split. Not ECL

Mono, why do you think split is necessary for high liquidity share like ECL? Mad

ECL is not that liquid. total shares 17mn, it's market cap is 476mn. public holding used to be around 8mn but recently there has been alot of long term buying one director bought 2mn and zoysa bought 2mn. so public float is around 4mn shares valued at around 100mn. I feel that even at these liquidity levels given the small cap size there is way too much volatility.

Oh, and i also get the feeling that the directors think that the present value of the share is difficult to maintain. an increase in liquidity might help buffer the down turn.

Well yeah ECL will remain stagnant just like many shares trading below th Rs.5 mark and this will augur well for the directors. They can tell share holders that now instead of one share you own 7 :)even though it will be stagnant at a lower price for a while unless they start aggressively increasing revenue and look at new opportunities.

The share too will not be as volatile since the float will be increased. Now when ever its goes up there will be skeptics since its performance does not in any way justify its increase hence the price band i think

my question is when there is a subdivision of shares 7 for 1, technically;

27.30LKR / 7 = 3.90LKR

the share prices should adjust to 3.90 LKR. Is that whats going to happen? Or due to this announcement will the prices go up again on tomorrow?
I dont think this subdivision helps shareholders at all. Anyway ECL is a affordable share for all. I wonder whats the purpose of this decision. Anyway this information was leaked... Always the case of CSE. If the volume goes high suddenly, there is always a news on the way.....

only about 6 Mn shares at public hand. 3 big players are collecting it aggressively. only 17 Mn shares issued. remember, market is not 100% driven by fundamental nor technical. shares like ECL has less shares, remember what happen CFT 6 months ago. 30 Rs share boost to 90 Rs with announce of 1:10 sub division.

ECL subdivision is good. forget fundamentals, if you have ECL keep it. Exclamation
