There is no stock mkt in this world which is green throughout the year. if you picked the right share at right time, should not worry. You need lots of experience for that, experience comes when you are in the mkt for sometimes as Gaja has been.

Im very positive about the mkt. Srilanka in a path of a massive development. This year budget too will be a business friendly one.We can expect good cooperate financial results too in last quarter and in next quarters as well. These good results will definitely bring down mkt PE ratio, which is higher at the moment.

Thanks for the idea, will give example of 2 shares i hold with sometimes say between 2 to 3 years with little example

I Bought LLUB in october 2009 say at around 170/= 1,000 shares and still i have those and its trading at 160/= with several dividends also given out! also note presently i have 2,000 shares

In the Same October 2009 i bought 1,000 commercial bank non voting shares around 70/= now it trades around 70 to 75, leave the rights & scrip dividend and the cash dividends given, 1st 1,000 became 1,500 because they gave a split of 1 share for every 2 shares held, and recently they gave another split of 1 for 1, so i have around 3,000 shares and it trades around the price i bought it in 2009, but i have 2,000 shares at nil cost!!!!!

See this is what i said, right share at right time. Gaja you have picked up too great fundamentally strong shares. LLUB give 4 dividend per year, altogether around Rs.12 per year.LLUB is a strong counter still hang on even this down trend mkt condition. In the end experience is the mother of wisdom.

Its true for most of ppl. just imagine the fate of ppl who stuck with BFL above 500, Tafl and Gran above 250. you not only got stuck with these shares but also not getting fair amount of dividends. DFCC was trading above 200 beginning of this year, ppl who got stuck with dfcc above 200 are still receiving good dividends yearly exceeding over Rs.10. This the different between fundamentals and over valued junk shares.Stick to the fundamentals, you will never be a loser.

Then you are a good investor. Good companies hardly dies. keep your shares grow receiving good dividends. Read Gajas story, where he is still holding LLUB and COMB since 2009 receiving good dividends, script dividends, right issues, and so on.

some people coming to CSE thinking this is a casino, They want to put money and get a 10 times return in few hours. Razz . even though the general literacy rate is high in Sri Lanka, the financial literacy of the people is at very primitive level. Only few know the meaning of investing.
No wonder how people like Sakwithi Ranasingha,Danduwam mudalalai,Golden key,Pyramid schemes mushrooming every where, No other country has such number of scams not even in India.Sri Lanka is no doubt Wonder of the world in this sense.

One of my examples,

I bought RCL in 2009 for 66/- and it went to 300/- and split. Now my shares cost 33/-! Today the share is trading at 10X and has enormous potential. I am not planning to sell it anytime soon! In the CSE game for 7 years now. I have 50% loss in first 4 years and thereafter made 500% gain on my portfolio next 3 years and i only deal with fundamental shares.

Be patient and stick to fundamentals.

Cheers!

Not giving up is a good quality, but we must treat stock investing as a business. If we start a business and if it continuously making losses would you put more and more money hoping for a turnaround. After sometime we may have to give up that business and move on to something that we can do better. Stock investing requires lot of work and effort, if you cannot put that labour and at the end results are not so good, I would advice to STOP.

I agree with you 100%, fundamentals hardly let you down. You and Gaja have proved it by holding into fundamentals like LLUB,COMB,RCL.

you were negative of the mkt and you were waiting till mkt hit the bottom to enter it again. What is your present sentiment about the mkt. do you hope further collapse or a recovery now on.

If you read this thread carefully, you will find out three of them. Additionally NTB looks strong fundamentally, with good dividends. Also LGL at current price.
