Hey Guys,

Since cricket has become a frequently spoken subject among the stock market investors, we have decided to maintain one topic under the heading of "Cricket World Cup 2011" up to the conclusion of the world cup. Some of the earlier topics, messages relating to cricket have been moved to this heading. Also for easy reading I will make this a sticky subject in the "home page" under the Stock Market Talk.

Please do not create new topics for cricket.
This is Hybrid_OS, initiative and undoubtedly he will be in charge of this Topic.
Hybrid, thanks for your support.

Quibi

Hope we can have fun now: 6:45 p.m. Upul and Dilshan!

This is going to be special worldcup.
Role of the all rounders will be questionable during whole tournament on batting paradises
I prefer 6 pure batsmen + 5 pure bowlers

Quibi / Hybrid_OS : Mistakenly created this as New Topic – Must have been under Cricket World cup thread .Sorry about that. Kindly move appropriately. – Milanka

Sri Lanka vice captain Mahela Jayawardene is considering legal action against state owned Independent Television Network (ITN) in response to commentary which implied he was guilty of match-fixing.

A state television broadcast suggested Jayawardene deliberately played badly for financial gain in Saturday's cricket World Cup defeat by Pakistan. Jayawardene said his lawyer was drafting a letter to "get to the bottom" of the accusation.

The allegation was also levelled at batsman Thilan Samaraweera.

Sri Lanka lost the game against Pakistan by 11 runs, with Jaywardene scoring two runs while Samaraweera scored one.

A commentary the next day on Sri Lankan state TV network, ITN, written by the editor of a state newspaper, Mahinda Abeysundara, said a businessman had bet about 18,000 dollars on a Pakistan victory, and that there had therefore been what he called a "chorus to change the game".

The commentator then remarked: "We just think Mahela and Thilan may have changed the game".

The commentary was accompanied by slow-motion extracts from the match, sad music, and blurry shots implying financial impropriety.
Leaving comments on sites such as Facebook, Sri Lankan fans have expressed outrage at the broadcast.

One said: "How dare you tell that Mahela and Thilan are betrayers ... this is so disgusting". Another called the coverage "shameless".

Sri Lanka will face Kenya at the cricket World Cup today.

18000 USD ???

Absurd...Thats a peanut for our cricketers... Mahela would earn that amount just appearing to a coke or pepsi ad..why he should matchfix for peanuts..

Even rumours should carry some reasonable facts

Post Tue Mar 01, 2011 10:42 am by sapumal

real question is whether someone give Mahela money to fix a match against teams like Pakistan, Australia, South Africa, India ?
If it was Canada,Kenya or Netherlands we can accept it. :D

SL need a team capable of scoring or chasing over 300 against India and England if SL to stay in the tournament next round. Send a strong batting side that can perform well during power play. Select a one day team rather than a test team.

Sanath Jayasooriya is better than Chamara Silva. Atlease he can bowl if he fails on batting.

Silva, Samaraweera, Perara needed to replaced with Kandambi, Kapu and Malinga

mono

Post Tue Mar 01, 2011 1:06 pm by mono

Tissara perera is match winner, and kandambi is fat.

avatar

Post Tue Mar 01, 2011 1:46 pm by sapumal

Perera don't have shots on off side. He is a leg side player
Kandambi fat. but he can score singles

Without having evidence anyone can not blame to any of player.

I do not believe this "Mahinda Abeysundara"s "Asundara Vimasuma".

Having a Strike bowler, Malinga makes the difference. I cannot understand why Sri Lanka is not taking the next power play now. 53 to win eleven overs, New Zealand in the same group against Kenya had a better run rate.

I am completely bowled over by a maiden.
I almost fell of my chair when I saw the priviledge I have of being given the responsibility to Moderate the FUN department.
SL has won the match just now. Congrats Kumar and team!

Shall try my best to O-PUN my innings on this high note.
