This is a old one. No sector will stay inactive for a long period. After inactive period we saw active trading in rubber stocks. We could see very strong active period specially for tea and tea related stocks in the coming quarters and years. Global trend is for tea not coffee now.

Tea prices set to climb as poor weather hurting output There has been a 40 percent reduction in produce and the weak trend could persist in the current quarter as well, says Kamal Baheti.

It is going to be active again.

Companies having exposure to more tea definitely will benefit due to attractive tea prices in the Colombo tea auction together with higher tea output in MAY. There is demand for quality tea now.

MAL had a good volume building today. I believe among tea stocks neglected MASK and BOPL could have break out once they start to announce good results in the coming quarters. Both MASK and BOPL are building their bases now. When compare with some other stocks in the same group they are very attractive now. Lately we can see some volume building up in these two stocks. We saw it in KOTA as well.

MASK all time high: Rs.74.75
All time low Rs: 9.40

BOPL all time high: Rs.77
All time low Rs.7:

UDPL
All time high: Rs.66
All time low: Rs.5.75

Other tea stocks to watch are TPL, UDPL and BALA. MAL too will be very active. I believe MPRH and SUN also will start to make good profits. Tea is one of the emerging commodities in the world. Every commodity has their day. There was a day for rubber, palm oil and coffee etc. It is going to be day for tea now.

Annual tea output in India and Kenya is going to be lower than last year.

If droughts continue until August in Kenya their tea output could hit hard.
