Hi Experts,

I'm working in a private institution ad very much less time to involve with CSE. Therfore, I missed lot of oppotunities. Are you guys involve with CSE in full time?
Please suggest what will be the best.

ss7097,
In my personal opinion, I think it is always best to have some permanent job to fall onto incase market goes into dull period. Remember market does not always stay up. We noticed last november and december to be dull period where we could not make much profit. In which case it was better for us to have something else to depend on.

Sri Lankan market though much hyped has still not got the maturity be to fundamental driven. We have good oppotunity I agree. But as you even today market is up 2% but how much is you portfolio based on fundamental shares up? So unless you are a gambler long term/medium term price appreciation takes time. In this market I would not quit my job.

Just my opinion. Other maybe have different opinion.

i am full time... and i am sure there are many guys who had made enough money from this market that they could afford to stay full time on the CSE for rest of their lives..

Quibi,
When did start becoming full time? Were you als full time during the war period also. I rememebr buying DFCC for Rs 140 thugh a right share in 2007 or 2008 only to see them going to Rs 50 in early 2009. During that time I was glad I had a job.
Not saying full time is bad. But am always good have something to fall onto as market will not give continous fortune. But then gain if you had made millions then you can afford to take the year off.

It depends on your skills and mind set.

I too agree. Even I don't have much time to involve in the stock market in the day time. But I am managing it. I feel, it's risky to be full time investor. It's again it depends on how big is your portfolio.

This is my opinion

What is your priority in life?
Is it to make as much money as possible (or lose) in whatever way? Then you can choose to be full time in CSE.
It's all about Maslow's hierarchy of needs. If trading in CSE gives you everything u need, then why not.
For me, it doesn't. Other than being able to grab opportunities to make extra money, it is rather boring. Besides, I have my studies to complete Smile

This is where you have to decide whether u want to be a trader or an investor Smile

Some of us might have had made transactions like this but is it worth to quit and go full to CSE is the question . IF you are looking medium to long term do we need to be full time?

Well I am an university student and in my final year so I don't get much time with the CSE.... But when I'm in hols or no lecture days I'm in to this full time. But I study, read blogs, charts every single day and tries to learn something new and it has become a habit. I just love what I do.

I love you

Thanks guys for your thoughts.
Why I was think to quit and do full time because, within 03 months from the day I involved with CSE, my portfolio has increased more than 5 years salary what I'm getting now.

As you said, that is a risk to giveup a job what I'm doing (getting six figure salary) now and enter full time. If this market collapse, I don't think it will be easy for me to get back a job with same package.
Therefore, I thought to make my portfolio around my 12-15 years salary worth and quit the job. Then I've much freedom and have time to follow CSE and may be do some trading for living expenses (not regularly).
Quibit, as you're an expert and longer time in this field, what do you think how big to have a portfolio to do full time.

again, IMHO, it depends on your age as well.
you should be able to decide when you will be ready for retirement with only your current job. how much you gather financially in this case.
If you reach over and above the target with CSE, then that's not a bad move to quit Smile
