I remember FLCH having billion of Rupees worth of timber in their balance sheet.

Is there a possibility of FLCH reporting exceptional results by harvesting the timber from their plantations.

If a company grow trees for timber as in many companies such as one that runs on a court case, you don't need government permission to harvest them. Otherwise why do companies do forestry?
I think what the government has given permission is to use firewood from the forests.
I don't think you can clear natural forests and show them as profits 'legally' in accounts.

According to new rules note the below

a) RPCs can now harvest timber/fuel wood from their commercial forestry cultivations.
b) Tea factories can now use fuel wood for their driers instead of more expensive imported petroleum products. The use of fuel wood is expected to reduce both RPC operating costs and also the country’s oil import bill, at a time when oil prices are rising.
c) RPC forestry programmes are environmentally friendly and in accordance with the Forestry Management Plans approved by the Conservator of Forests and the Ministry of Plantation Industries.

This is a good move.
Ban of using own cultivated timber is counter productive.
No one will take interest to grow timber in their excess lands and in corridors if you cannot cut them at maturity.

I have a kaluwara (Ebony- Diospyros ebenum ) tree planted by me 30 years ago and few sandalwood trees also. I am reluctant to grow more . I have to face troubles if I try to harvest them.

regarding plantations : lot of valuable timber in tea plantations wear cut heavily when they were handed over to Indian companies few years ago. The Govt. banned it after the damage was done by Indians.

Anyway it doesn't make any sense then what do the companies like touchwood and other companies who are doing forestry have been doing all this time if they can't cut the trees?

Chinwi, Please highlight whether there is a ban on cutting any of the timber in your own property I feel I am in the same boat as you if there is one. I thought that one could still cut timber if it is grown after proper approvals?

You can cut any tree at your property except few banned trees like jack tree(Kos) and recently coconut.even if you cut trees, you may need licence for transport timber.
