What will happen to the share holders of HDEV and it's share price?

The impact of this take over may be that foreign companies will be scared to invest in Sri Lanka. As such, how Sri Lanka can be made as the surprise of Asia?

I have heard that Governments take over property in other countries too - and pay less than market price. Obviously, Government agencies need to be seen to be especially fair while taking over property belonging to foreign companies. Else, the business risk profile of the country could take a beating.

If the Hilton property was legally acquired - to recover unpaid rentals and after giving the owners adequate opportunity to pay - it appears fair to me.

Tz is no big deal. Govt anyway owns Hilton due to unpaid debt. Hilton agreement is the one they need to deal with. 20 year u..must be kidding.. Hilton cannot take legitimate government to task becos of it's ignorance on breach of contract. Walk to the hotel n see it yourself. Curry leaf, wok, spoons, throaba or illpone...It deserves refurbishment badly... No where near hyatt or Conrad... Not even shangriallla.

I happy that govt take control of inefficient management of hilton..

I think it's about time some one did some thing about this ....it has been in the default board for 10 years....not paid lease rental....it's good that the Government took it over...I'm sure in any other country the same would have happened probbably sooner...at least now some solution will be put forward to the share holders as well .... when LHCL was taken over and run by the government there were various allegations as well ....now look at where it's heading.....as long as the government with the help of the private sector enhances stakeholder value I think it's better than nothing done at all .

Issued capital of Hilton ( HDEV - Hotel Developers PLC) is below 500 million.
The money they owe to the Govt. (debt to the Govt ) is said to be over 11 Billion Rupees. !
