Possible if they exceed 30% holding at the moment their Holding is something like 28.6 %.... don't know if they will want to do this ....but if GOSL wnats to dispose of these shares then Fortis will probably want to buy the shares ...

If they buy the remaining to complete 30% tomorrow, when do we get to know that and when do they start buying with that mandatory offer. (They have bought that 28% on March 4th and put the notice today Rolling Eyes )

Please explain the procedure of a Mandatory offer (using the above example.)

Thanks Smile

the 28% was acquired some time back. this is not a new announcement. I'm trying to find the thread where we discussed the same thing

Well if theoretically they buy exceeding the 30% we will probably know tomorrow it self (when they bought the last time every one knew what was going on ) then an offical announcement will take place after which they will offer to buy back the shares at the highest traded price i.e. 62 then the mandatory offer will be Rs.62 some will sell some might hold if they feel the share price will move up further or is worth more....then depending on the number of shares held by fortis if it's mutual they will take over LHCL or there will be a battle for control eg:hostile take over like when Harry took over Apollo (formerly lhcl)....But I really don't think this will happen as it is a strategic partnership where it is mutually benfitial for both parties concerned. But what we don't know is if GOSL is willing to sell completely to fortis via SLIC ( If SLIC feels that it wants to exit then they will sell )... lets wait and see...My personal view is that Fortis and GOSL will be in partnership for sometime and when the time is right a decesion will be made if fortis is to take full control or not....Smile

Ok. what i think happened was on today is this.

1 . insiders knew there will be an announcement by fortis healthcare on today.
2 . every one thought this is about a mandatory offer.
3 . this lead to a buying rally.
4 . after the trading ours announcement was out . but it was not the news that people expected to hear.

We know all Indians r stupid.... Just like tendulkar or dravid... Can Fortis make the mistake of crossing the threshold of mandatory offer without their knowledge. I don't think so. Ordinary Indian suppose to be smarter than that...supposedly more than sir lankans... Unless Fortis management consist of more than the intelligent Indians...

I would love to sell my shares to a very smart indian investor....at Rs 62/= per share... I have done it before to the stupid indian Dr pratap Reddy. I am not Harry J.. I am just quibit... Your Cupid....
