Our attention is drawn to a statement made by Standard and Poor’s that was issued yesterday, in which they seem to have drawn attention to a possible conflict of interest as a result of the EPF investing in shares of banks. In this regard, the EPF wishes to state that different departments in the Central Bank deal in exclusive fields of different operations with high confidentiality and professionalism.

Within the Central Bank, the EPF Department functions independently from all other departments of the Central Bank, with stringent firewalls that have been established for this purpose. These are adhered to at all times and the integrity of the Central Bank or the EPF is not compromised in any way.

Based on the above, the EPF wishes to affirm that there has been no conflict of interest and that the EPF believes that this statement by Standard and Poors’ seems to be based on certain recent allegations that have obviously been designed to achieve the objective of discrediting the EPF.

Further, the EPF wishes to state that the banking sector is one of the fastest growing and most profitable sectors in the CSE. In that context, being the country’s biggest Fund, it would be highly prejudicial to the local EPF members, if the EPF were to refrain from investing in such a sector.

These people are incredible!! S&P is a widely accepted, world renowned and one of the 3 main credit rating agencies in the world. for the first time they even analyzed a country like us. our bullying CB and EPF is now trying to convince people that the report is false. why the heck they should discredit EPF anyway???? these goverment institutes are becoming a joke now! i hope people will take into serious consideration about this and take some serious action otherwise we will all have to suffer in the future.

This is like Asking "Pena" From thieves mother. They say they have no conflict of interest Razz lol!
They think S & P is just spreading rumors like their ITN, Rupavahini, SLBC
Then why they(EPF,ETF,SLIC) nominate directors to Bank boards even chairmen/CEO in some banks?.
Why they ask some bank directors to go home?
EPF managed by Central Bank- which itself regulates the other Commercial Banks, Doesn't the fund managers exposed to sensitive information of Central Bank regulations. There can be clear insider deals with huge conflict of interest.
Countries economy can go in to deep deep shit with this Cabral and the Clan.

Cabral and the Clan think all Sri Lankan's are fools, and That's ok, but now they try to make S&P also fools. Cabral think highly professional and independent body like S & P should believe fairy tails of cabba. We saw the professionalism of EPF during LGL, Galadari deals Razz
