Market turnover levels rebounded today to post a turnover of Rs. 332 million. Top contributors to turnover were Dialog Telekom with Rs. 85 million, Chevron Lubricants with Rs. 55 million and Commercial Bank non-voting with Rs. 27 million. The ASI lost 21.97 points (-0.44%) to close at 4,924.61, MPI lost 15.39 points (-0.35%) to close at 4,357.66 and the S&P index lost 11.92 points (-0.42%) to close at 2,797.39.

Top losers for the day were Citrus Leisure which dropped by Rs. 3 to close at Rs. 25, Renuka Holdings by Rs. 2.80 to close at Rs. 28 and HVA Foods by Rs. 0.60 to close at Rs. 11.40. Top gainers for the day were SMB Leasing up by Rs. 0.10 to close at Rs. 1.10, Commercial Leasing by Rs. 0.20 to close at Rs. 3.10 and DFCC by Rs. 4.70 to close at Rs. 110. Most active counters for the day were HVA Foods, Beruwala Resorts and PC House.

Special note must be mentioned that companies with a past record of declaring dividends at this time in the calendar were seeing relatively high interest (Nestle). Foreign participation was 43.3% with net inflows of Rs. 79.4 million.
