@Rajitha: I endorse that completely... RENU may not be the most popular share, but it IS the best buy in the hotel sector. (Warning: It is rather illiquid; so, don't buy it for short term gains.)

RENU remains to be sound stock; there may be few members who interested on this. I just analyzed its financial.
It is Amazing!!!!!.

RENU has following strong factors……….

Annualized EPS – RS.45

Net Asset / Share - Rs.232

PE ratio - 9 times (Lowest PE, whereas Market PE -25. Hotel Sector PE)

Last quarter Price Movement – High Rs.450 ( October) Low –Rs.300 ( December)
Current Price- Rs.350

Issued Shares Qty – 7mn Shares. (High possibility for Share split). Further major share holders hold 88%. Hence floating shares only 12%.

RENU has strong investment portfolio including some of blue ship companies, this investment is reported in the financial as long term investment and carried at COST ( As per SLAS). When value the investment holding @ current market price that would give the actual worth of the company.

I tried to value RENU’s long term Investment Portfolio. The information gathered from its annual report and adjusted share splits (DFCC, COMB and RICH).

Further the value from core business is Rs.60 ( 4*15)
Annualized EPS from Core Business - Rs.4 (EPS is adjusted with other income rs.145mn contributed form investment activities)

I think among colombo city hotels GALADARI is going to be the winner. Compare to stock price of all other 5 stars in the city Price level is very attractive. Galadari still u can by at 33/-No any other City hotel stocks at that price. only GALADARI. And very attractive location . We can expect rapid increase in their turnover with increased no. of tourists and planned city development. Outside Colombo in mid term I beleive the best is keeels Hotel(KHL)

Galadari is sitting on a mammoth accumulated loss of Rs. 9 Bn. Eventhough the hotel has turned around and made an annual profit of 33Mn for 2010, it has a looooooong way to go!
