Colombo Sri Lanka August 2012 – PC Pharma PLC appointed JL Morisons Sons & Jones (Ceylon) PLC as the authorized distributors for the Celia range of products. Under this arrangement, JL Morisons will distribute the ‘Celia’ range of infant food products through its island-wide network.

The Celia brand, launched in 1980 by France’s Lactalis Group - the largest dairy products group in the world, prides itself in offering the very best in wholesome nutrition to infants and expecting mothers, from the primary, secondary and tertiary stage of infant development right through to the first three years of a child’s life, ensuring healthy growth and mental development. Each of these products, formulated under the highest European standards, are manufactured and packed in France under the latest European standards (2006/141/CE) and
ESPGHAN 2005.

Speaking about this partnership, Mr Chanaka Keppitiwalana, Director Sales and Marketing of JL Morisons Sons & Jones PLC, stated, “With a wide range of products ranging from milk foods to diagnostic reagents, we strive to be a market leader in bringing a vast array of products from across the globe and delivering it to our Sri Lankan consumer base. We’re confident that this partnership will further help us in this regard, as we take the world-renowned Celia brand to every corner of Sri Lanka. PC Pharma has had an incredible response from the local market since the launch of the Celia products last year, and we look forward to seeing this grow in the coming months.”

JL Morisons Sons & Jones PLC is a leading local importer of pharmaceuticals, agro chemicals, medical aid, household insecticides, shoe care, hair care products, diagnostic reagents and milk foods among other consumer products within a network spanning across the island. Founded in 1938 in Britain, the company was later bought over and became a fully Sri Lankan owned company in 1998.

Mr. Dilshad Ikram, the Chief Executive Officer of PC Pharma PLC commented, “This is a big step for PC Pharma and the Lactalis Group. We believe that our primary aim of promoting healthy living among our customers will surely be met through this partnership, as we market our products through JL Morisons’ extensive distributor chain. Thus, as we grow from strength to strength and introduce new products into the market, we hope to continue providing the best with regard to health products and drive a healthy change, not only in the market, but also in the lives of our consumers.”

PC Pharma has gained rapid recognition within the local market, since the company’s inception, becoming the first local pharmaceutical importer to obtain the ISO 9001:2008 certifications. Being a listed company on the Dirisavi Board of the Colombo Stock Exchange, PC Pharma markets a wide range of pharmaceuticals including medicine and medical equipment and supplementary herbal products. The company has also entered the FMCG arena with Celia and its most recent product RED (Revitalizing Energy Drink), both of which have gained significant market shares since their launch. Meanwhile, the company has plans to expand its product portfolio, with a focus on neutroceuticals in the coming year.
