As per the announcement at CSE today there were applications for 2bn shares paid by 34,421 cheques or drafts..

the average value of an application is 58865/= assuming that all 34,421 applications falls with in the retailer segment.

Since the shares to be allocated to retailers is Rs.600mn, the times over subscription is 3.377 times.

the shares allocated will be 29.6%. the one who applied for 2,000 shares will get 600 shares..

On the other-side assuming all unit trust funds and investors applied to the IPO using guarantees, the % allocation would be 1.34% of the total guarantee value

Those who applied for 2,000 shares will get 2000 shares (100%) which is the minimum amount as per the prospectus. Correct me if I am wrong.

Nope dude, that is the minimum application limit not allocation limit,

hope you remember HPFL which is a subsidiary of FLCH allotment, at that time they allotted 1000 shares for those who applied for 2000 shares which was the minimum application limit..at that time there were no segregation of retailers and investors, so many IPOs preferred the staggered basic to give some advantage to the small people, now the rule has changed and we are protected. so there are ample of chances that the issuers decides on the % allocation instead of staggered basis.

That's the min applicable.. not he min alloted.. if the oversubscribe rate is low, there;s hope at least 2000 shares get allocated for small investors.. other numbers may get proportionate Wink

Please refer Prospectus Page No. 7 Para 5.4 the minimum subcription = 2000 and also minimum allotment = 2000.

The prospectus clearly states that 2,000 shares is the minimum to be applied for and it is also the minimum amount anyone will be allotted.

Further, I personally do not think that all those who applied using cheque and bank drafts fall into retailer category. Let's wait and see how the break down is.

Anyhow it is strange to see so much applied through bank guarantees again after seeing the high cost per share for the UB IPO

Seems like only a few has actually read the prospectus and instructions at the back of the application form.. It is also said that all those who apply less than or equal to 10,000 shares will fall under retailer category.. Very Happy

Even though its says all those apply less than or equal to 10,000 shares will fall under the retailer category, but according to this announcement upto 20,000 shares will be considered as retailers http://www.cse.lk/cmt/upload_cse_announcements/7401300277784_.pdf

if everyone get 2000 or more then there may be a temporary selling pressure (created ?) putting the prices lower than expected.

It may give a good time for the collectors.
