WoW I love poultry so much. It's been like 2 years I entered the stock market. I had no idea but just listen to my broker. That was the time when investor.lk was the platform for gossips. They said poultry was manipulated, but the base was very strong and had real value it was all a rumor to bring down so these people can grab them cheap. I started with just 2laks from my mom. Bought BFL @ Rs.50 and just watched it move to Rs.180 levels. It had strong financials and had real value I was so happy with that confidence I pumped in more money 2laks and used my entire margin, and bought from GRAN and TAFL I was so lucky I bought them at Rs.60 levels and sold at Rs.240 levels. BFL went upto Rs.528, I sold at Rs.510 levels.I actually made 80laks. Rumors came again saying manipulation and brought the share prices down and I bought them half way but still the market kept going down and I was in loss just like the others bear market having the margin also reducing in portfolio. Broker asked me to sell to settle margin cuz i was holding more than 6months in the bear market. I really ended up in selling all the shares only keeping GRAN worth 10laks @ Rs.165... I surely know BFL,GRAN,TAFL poultry is worth more than their All time high price cuz they performed well. Hoping GRAN will pass Rs.165 so I can recover my loss. This entire week my eyes were only at these 3 poultry leaders. Today I felt the pressure building for the chicken run. Morning I bought BFL and TAFL for margin I had and by afternoon my profit on BFL closing price was 20k on BFL alone. I just want to share my life experience in this market not to manipulate. You can go through their financials. But dont worry later you missed the train Very Happy... Good luck guys...

I made a loss with Gran by buying at the wrong time. It was my mistake, I also know people who made a lot of money.

Congratulations MerdoxR on your good fortune. I dont mean to step on your buzz but just want to caution you on some changes that are taking place in the poultry Industry. Right now, the poultry industry is in one big mess. the comming quarterly results will reflect this. over production, over supply, rising feed prices, rising overhead etc. It wont be rosy like before. The poultry industry is cyclical and post end of war, the industry has a good time. now, their are some structural changes taking place. a lot of new players (breeder farms), price control on broiler, rising soybean prices etc. another big worry is goverment intervention. last year, they imported cheaper chicken and eggs from india and the impact of this is only now being felt due to the livestock cycle. i hear all broiler processors cold storage facillities are full. the Breeder firms are prematurely culling birds as day old chick (DOC) prices have crashed. even if and when the current down cycle ends (overproduction, oversupply, rising raw material costs = lower profit or losses), the good times may not be like earlier due to the threat of price control (PBJ promised Rs 35 kg price hike after elections), and govt interventions (imports), rising feed costs, entry and excess capacity of new breeder farms and broiler processors.

arent u over leveraging this one.....all your investments in one company or poultry sector....

People make big money as well as they go bust over night with this style buying its way too risky,........buying whole lots at once. I am sorry i can not agree....unless you do some analysis before buying... scratch

Dont get burnt out.....with margins by taking too much risk...

All the best....

I did not lie. This is the truth that happen to me. I was out of the market nothing do in the bear market just watching all of them come down. Wish I had sold everything earlier when it was dropping and bought them back again. Did you see the sellers demand of prices for all 3 poultry today? I am back again cuz I can see opportunities. Good luck guys. All the best. Hope all will remember my story when you see the chicken run Very Happy

The previous mega run on poultry was based on fundamentals; I mean there were enough reasons for it to run. All TAFL, GRAN, and BFL were reporting above 50% growth Q by Q.

Do we have the same scenario now. TAFL is with a small loss for June 2012. Sep. quarter also very much doubtful and I expect their loss will increase in September, due to the drought. BFL at current prices is at PER of 14X and PBV of 1.4X. Q by Q EPS has dropped from Rs.9/- to Rs.3/- in last two quarters. Profits in GRAN in June are from other incomes.

As we are in a bull run, prices can go up. But it's really doubtful about the fundamentals at the moment. But once the environment is conducive these companies will definitely perform, most probably once the drought is over.

The news I got was Reps from Poultry Industry met the minister for a price revision on Thursday. possibly by Rs.30-40 . The request was accepted or not is not known yet.

I believe the collections are based on this. lets see any Chicken Directors have collected their own stocks by next week, which would be the confirmation of the positive news in advane

Sorry for the late reply guys. I know diversification is vital in share market. But I took the risk and traded in ups and downs of the market and made 8 Million of total. Then at last was with the margin of around 4 million worth stocks extra market started to fall. I was holding as much as I can and then my broker kept selling time to time to correct the margin levels. I was pissed I told him to clear the entire margin that is where I incurred a massive loss. I just wanted to share what happen to me not intending for others to buy. To gain knowledge from you guys as an advice for me and I need a lot to learn seeing form my experience from your point of view. Thankx fellow members.

what's hard to believe was that you made 4 lakh into 80

anyway, if i had done that, I probably would have been happy and exited when it was on the way down at around 40 lakh (just saying)
i know its easily said than done but we should be more mature in our return expectations

We know that u want to share ur experience.. we do that a lot too. Sorry abt the losses u make.. We can only have the sympathy towards the situation..

However what's skeptical here is how u turn 4laks into 8 mil.. well if ur that lucky or smart there'll be a lot of guys who would pay u millions for your advice Wink

Still u've not answered my earlier post.. Now I smell a rat..

Ur total investment is 4 laks so I dont think we're fools to believe u got at least 400% margin facility from any company.. That would be absurd to think even..
Even if u get a 100% margin trading from broker thats 8 laks in total. Now r u telling us u made 1000% profits on a 8 laks portfolio.. WOW Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Time for you to explain in detail how u earned 80 laks..

OFC he can't make those returns with just keeping stocks from very bottom level and selling at top! The secret he has not shared is that after he bougth those shares at very bottom he has sold them at very peaks of each run. and haveboguth when they go down and kept doing this perfectly! So his margins get better as wel and he keeps buying these shares at every drop at least price ans selling at highest price Laughing Laughing Laughing
