The new Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Nalaka
Godahewa in his first meeting with the stockbrokers on Friday said that
it is important to work collectively and help build a vibrant market,
brokers present at the meeting said.

“It was a very cordial discussion and the brokers wanted the same concessions that they
had wanted at the July meeting they had with the President. Dr.
Godahewa had wanted them to write to the SEC and that those requests
will be sent to SEC’s relevant committees,”one of the brokers said.

The meeting had started at 3.30 pm and concluded at 6 pm. Another broker
said that the meeting saw an exchange of ideas, while the positive
change in market sentiment was discussed. “Dr. Godahewa also said that
he is keen to wrap up the ongoing probes,” the broker said.
Representatives from all 28 stock broking houses attended the meeting. -

2.cover something with material: to cover something completely with material such as paper, plastic, or foil :- This meaning gives positive sentiment to so called HNWI.

Is meeting conducted in English Language?

If so, Dr's speech is not well caught by brokers or they are not smart enough to ask the meaning of "wrap-up".

If so, the ball is in his court now. He can either play it smart (issue a press release on what he meant by "wrap-up") or do nothing.

Look at practical way

What benefit poor retail traders / investors received from such investigation, consequently this HNWI stopped trading and that resulted bring down the bourse

Those who had brought manipulated shares at higher prices were trap in most difficult situation.

If those investigation continue SEC would have been able to fine them but that will not benefited to poor retailers

If wrap up Investigation market will continue and at least retailers will have another opportunity to cover up loses

@Jaya: in the short term for retailers it may look like "wrapping up" is the best thing (i.e. allowing all sorts of plays in the market) but in the long run it could lead to some sort of a disastrous bubble.

However, I'd say "wrapping up" would allow smart investors to ride this uptrend and earn a lot of money before the next bubble bursts...

Retailers (like myself) will be enjoying the current ride and jumping up and down with joy while asking SEC not to intervene... However, when the next bubble bursts, everybody will be pointing figures at the SEC, whining about why they didn't intervene... hypocrites! Mad

Cheers!
