Sri lanka's exports fell 6.6 while imports fell at a faster 25.4 percent.
Exports
1 apparel fell 9.2
2 rubber products fell 19.4
Imports
1 consumer goods fell 32.1
2 electronics fell ?
Will these figures 'REFLECTS' in coming quarterly reports? If so from which companies? I will start with few...
Apparel-OGL,VONE....?(I am not sure about TJL,KURU and MGT)
Rubber-REXP,CWM.....?
Consumer goods-RHL,CWM....?
Electronics-SHL...?

Imports can it be mainly 'vehicles' after the tax increase.
And Exports will it get worse with the Iran sanctions & Europe crisis?

Nop what i feel is this.

According to all the calculations i did so far............
Apparel , Tea and other exports..................Rupee value of the export went up due to the new orders we got after the rupee depreciation ( competitiveness ). But $ value came down

For an eg....

If we export Rs. 200 worth Tea..................(200/110 ) it is $ 1.8
Then Export increased to Rs 230 (15%) ................( 230/132) It is $ 1.74

So overall export $ value has come down From 1.8 to 1.74 (3%).........This is what happen.

Conclusion[b]

There is no value in depreciating the currency in terms of export $ figure. So dont compare. What we get is a reduction in the import bill and the increase in the real rupee out put like in above tea eg.( 15% )

Hope you can understand it easily. So dont blame by looking at the Export $ value it will defa come down due to this Rupee depreciation.
