Sri Lanka’s Central Bank says, the acquisition of a property in New York by the Bank has been reported in accordance with applicable Accounting Standards.

“The Central Bank wishes to confirm that the Bank has reported the acquisition of a property in New York, USA in accordance with the prevailing International and Sri Lanka Accounting Standards”, the Bank announced in a statement issued.

It also says that the property has been acquired in accordance with the established legal framework and procurement procedures.

CBSL points out that in keeping with the advice of the Attorney General, the Cabinet of Ministers too has been apprised of the acquisition.

The Bank’s latest statement comes, following an opposition MP claimed that the property acquired by the Bank in New York was done without following the correct procedures.
