The national telecommunications provider, Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), has recorded inspirational performance through 2012 by being the most awarded corporate.

Constantly reinventing its offerings, embracing innovation, enhancing customer care and pioneering the latest developments in ICT, SLT’s consistent transformation has been suitably acknowledged with numerous awards and accolades this year. Significantly, the awards bestowed on the blue-chip span all aspects of its functions, which reflect the company’s diversity and strengths.
SLT Chief Executive Officer Greg Young commented: “On behalf of the entire SLT team, I would like to express our humble gratitude for the diverse awards and accolades recognising our performance in 2012."
SLT has been recognised with many of the prized corporate awards in the country and it gives me a sense of pride to see how Sri Lanka’s best-loved brand is holding its own against impressive competition. SLT remains focused on service and product excellence. It is revolutionising ICT in the country and the region. We take our pledge of ‘One Country, One Voice’ to heart and our every endeavour is to uplift the people of the nation as one. The recognition that SLT receives in the local and international arena is a testimonial to our enduring dedication to delivering our brand promise.”
The SLT Annual Report has set a benchmark in financial reporting locally and won the Gold award at the institute of Chartered Accountants Sri Lanka organised Annual Report Awards 2011, under the ‘Telecommunication Sector’ category.
As one of Sri Lanka’s best-loved brands, SLT was adjudged the winner in ‘Brand Leadership Overall Category Award’ at the ‘Global Awards for Brand Excellence’ held in November in India. The Global Awards for Brand attracted competition from more than 100 countries in categories ranging across brand building and management, advertising campaigns and corporate profile.
SLT was also recognised at the HRM Awards 2012 with a Silver Award, conducted by the Association of Human Resources Professionals in partnership with AON Hewitt India. SLT won a Silver Award for the implementation of Best HR Practices and Techniques. Cutting edge HR practices and a large and dynamic set of people make up the foundation on which SLT rests. The HRM Awards assess, recognise and felicitate the best human resource management systems and processes among corporate entities in the country.
SLT’s legendary passion for sustainability initiatives and its commitment to bring people closer together have not gone unnoticed. SLT received due recognition as one of the Ten Best Corporate Citizens in Sri Lanka within the CSR and Sustainable Business categories and also won a Category award of best performance for Economic Contribution at the Best Corporate Citizens Award 2012, conducted by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Most recently, the company won the overall National Business Excellence Award 2012 – organised by The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. The company was adjudged the Overall Winner – Gold Award; Sector Award – Best Capacity Builder; Winner – Gold, Sector Award – Infrastructure and Utilities; Winner – Gold, Sector Award – Extra Large Business Category; Winner – Gold and Sector Award – Best Tech-Savvy Company; and Runner up – Silver.
SLT remains amongst the echelons of the country’s leading corporates, ranked 10th in the Business Today ‘Top Twenty Five’ Awards 2010-2011 and is ranked No. 6 in Sri Lanka LMD 100 ranking 2012.
