According to Mark Mobius-The Emerging Market Guru Predicts 2013 going to be a Fantastic year for emerging markets and he specially mentions Frontier Markets including Sri Lanka in his above video. We Should remember that he correctly predicted 2011 was a terrible year for emerging markets and 2012 was a year of recovery, that was what exactly happened in CSE. So now the sentiment Cycle going into greedy phase slowly, in Sri Lankan perspective the interest rates are on downward trend and it will affect positively on CSE in many ways.
One important thing is interest rates for margin trading also will come down slowly allowing us to play with margin safetly. We know many investors including HNWI wiped out during last couple of years due to margin play done at wrong time.
So now I believe Now is the time to play with margin and I opened a margin account recently and bought 40 % of my allowed credit on margin. I would like to share some views about your margin trading plans for 2013.
I thought investing in good dividend stocks will further ease my interest cost on margin limit, as those dividends are directly absorbed by the margin provider. So theoretically of the margin interest rate is 15 % and if I select some counters with dividend yield of more than 6 % then my effective interest rate would be around 9%.
My selections were as below, I believe they have significant growth potential in addition to good dividend yield.
GLAS- Very low p/E so that good dividend yield, Growth potential with increasing consumption pattern
RICH- Commodity and Consumable/retail play which Mark Mobius too bulish on
NDB-2013 would be an exceptional year for NDB, reminds me DFCC in 2011 after sale of COMB stake.
SINS- Again play on consumables.
OSEA- Havelock City will come into market this year onwards. I expect good dividends as the majority stake is held by Singaporeans.
In addition to above,
REEF.w19 - Related to fastest growing industry in Sri Lanka in past few years (But no dividends)I expect significant movement in next couple of years especially if CITW and CITK become operational.
What are you views about my selections above
