That's true.... but these other companies are of low nominal value. The real value of CDIC was Aviva's stake. That stake masked the issues with the other firms. All three businesses are capital intensive.

What will happen to the price of CDIC?

Has anyone got a group of companies structure (chart) showing the % of equity owned before & after buying back shares.
Highly appreciate someone's contribution. Thanks.

Correct, Share repurchase is another form of dividend no?

Dividend : you hold the share and get extra money.

Buy back : you need to give up your share ( like selling it on market )

This is what I understand so far . I could be wrong as I need to read further.

NDB Capital will use their assets to buy back the sahres from the shareholders - the main one being NDB. Similar to a profit repatriation.

The problem is whether there is any future to the company or whether the capital left can support a broker (SEC requirements) and a wealth manager. Hence the talk of a solvency test being satisfied.

The lack of future revenues is due to the bulk of the profit coming from Aviva in the past.

Once this is done, the number of shares in issue will come down by that number

Definition of 'Buyback'

The repurchase of outstanding shares (repurchase) by a company in
order to reduce the number of shares on the market. Companies will buy
back shares either to increase the value of shares still available
(reducing supply), or to eliminate any threats by shareholders who may
be looking for a controlling stake.
