Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa stated that the Cabinet had decided to implement the recommendations of LLRC. He further stated that twenty two Ministries and Institutions directly involved in this process have made action plans to meet the deadline stipulated.

The Cabinet has also decided to rehabilitate the old electrical system at the University of Peradeniya. The proposal was made by S. B. Dissanayake, Minister of Higher Education.

A project is to be implemented for the provision of pipe borne sewer facilities for pilgrims’ rests, hotels and offices around Katharagama city limits due to the increased demand for sewerage connections in the area.

The approval for the project was granted by the cabinet according to a proposal made by Minister of Water Supply and Drainage.

Soya Beans will be provided at concessionary price for cultivation purposes to small scale farmers who are engaged in Soya Bean Cultivation.

The project which was approved by the cabinet according to a proposal made by the Minister of Agriculture, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, will be executed with the objective of increasing the Soya Bean production to meet the local demand.

It has been found out that the crop can be cultivated under the climatic conditions of Anuradhapura, Monaragala, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Hambanthota, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts as a short term crop.
