I am surprised you did not know as you said you have been watching this forum for long.

I joined this forum when there was less than 50 people. Continously being here for over 2 years now. ( I can think of only handful who remained here through thick and thin) . The previous admin Quibit, requested myself and Small to take up Admin to run the forum when she went way. We "climbed" our way from member, moderator to Admin.
All volunteer basis.

Moderators are appointed by us Admins ( through tech team) depending on service , dedication, seniority to the forum ( except for some exceptions related to tech issues I do not want to get into ) . No personal contacts or interviews are necessary .

Hope this clarifies.

Btw, I think I just got few mote 100 hits for the advertisers due to reviving ( commenting) on the thread.

I think I need to get compensated for my effort

I hope it is clear now.

What is your job? I'm confused. Do you try to protect the public from the 'site owners' comments here and there?

Designations such as Senior Vice President etc are given to members based on their post count, i think. At the rate you are going, you too will become President one day soon Smile

This is a valuable Forum that enables free exchange of ideas, gossip, hints, recomendations and promotions. we should now stop digging into ownership details etc as their is no actual point in this. Lets stick to the knitting. we do not want to kill the goose that lays the golden egg !

I want you'll to understand some background . This needs to be said.

1) With volunteer time, Admins or Moderators really do not have time to monitor every post , satisfy everyone or to figure out who is behind what post.

It is members who should comment/identify on topics to reveal any hidden stuff ( without mudslinging) so other people who read know all sides.

After member discussions if it is clearly revealed that a topic is manipulation/mudslinging we can take action. Sometime Admin team misses topics. We can't read everything.

2 ) Member expectation of Volunteer Admins :

I personally am wasting too much time here for no real benefit.

Am really wondering sometime what I am doing here. I am sure some other genuine Admin team members think the same. What have I gained after 1000s of hours spent and 4000+ posts to educate . I acknowledge I gained some knowledge from others. But I could have just done that as a member/visitor

Just think what is the benefit of this Admin/Mod positions. Nobody even knows us.

All this is for social service.

I am speaking for all genuine Volunteer mods/admins who puts efforts to keep this forum going.

There was only a handful of people here who stuck during thick and thin,.
Some come make suggestions, make promotions, commetns and dissapeaar.

Who kept the forum going ?

It is easy as a 3rd person to find inefficiencies . Lot of people do not understand the effort Volunteers put and should realize they really do not have the time solve every issue. We have some limitations .

There is a forum for you guys to come and comment as some of us are doing our best to make it atleast organized to this level.

BTw, I see some Mods not doing Mod duties even while others shouldering a huge load to keep this site organized .

Maybe if not for some people efforts the forum would become a cess pool and it could have been shut down by now.

In essense I request genuine and senior members to help the volunteer Admin team ( some who has continously been here for year) to maintain forum and not jump on a rare inefficency sarcastically.

Note this is still the number 1 forum in the country.

3) All I know is my ( and others ) 1000s of hours spent to educate and share info is embedded in this forum.

You or I do not own this forum. What happens if owners shut it down?
Just think about it.

4) There was a big discussion about allowing some gossip ( as long as no serious abuse is done) .

Whether it is forntier capital or President has a right to come and psot here. Only if it is identifies as promotion . abuse or lies we should take action.

We try to be democratic as much as possible (unless abuse is done) to allow all views ( unless identified consistent abuse for personal gain ) and even some gossip . Else forum will be dead during these periods anyway.

The recent Barren Wauffute post had a good discussion on this.

Admins/Mods only has limited powers with forum features. We are not the one who created the forum. So powers lie there.

Sometime we need to ask tech to get something done. ( GMNet is serving as Tech/security personelle from creators side).

I have said all that is necessary. I think it is best now to stick to Equity discussions to stick with forum theme and not bother too much about discussing owners .

Why this continuing Dog Fighting?

This forum is getting really disturbing lately. Everyday someone is starting a very disturbing topic and it has become a habit now.

Before commenting further I would like to ask so called Moderators and Administrators,

"Is this a public forum or not?"

Please explain, then it's clear for the people who are visiting this site.

I think these details were not new for many of us.
Time to time they gave hints to find out everything if we needed.

If you go to our main site (srilankaequity.com) you can see the News tab. .
It will direct you to LBT ( Lanka Business Today)
LBT is run by Global Media Networks Ltd.

I became a member of this forum before the collapsing of investnow. When I started writing I searched every link to see the background of this site.

Somehow, I think , at present, this is immaterial for our purpose.
They did not interfere to restrict our work here.
They may try to generate some profit , we have to think about the knowledge and information we get from here.

This forum is beyond doubt very valuable to all of us. Though some of us have known who the owners are, the lack of transparency has always been disconcerting. Though rainmaker expressed himself rather forcefully, the questions that he asks are natural outcome of the secretive nature of the owners.
We are now quite a large community and will probably grow much lager as the capital market expands. We appreciate the fact that the owners created this forum and the volunteers who selflessly give us their valuable time. If mistakes have been made, I hope that they would be put to the table and corrected.
All of us as a investment community network, is more important than the owners now. All this can be sorted with a few clarifications and we can get back to discussing Mr.Market whose behavior is getting very interesting these days.

This topic was opened for transparency to allow for some questions/concerns regarding ownership that was posted in a non relevant thread which was going out of focus ( maybe you did not see them) . this is a forum for public discussion but you and I do not own it.

So I see the questions asked are natural .

It is also important for unaware parties/new comers to know how the forum operates. This thread will serve that purpose. Time to time these question come again and again.

People like you who already know do not have to read it.

When bull market start and there are 101 posts on promotion attention will divert to equity.

Now let us divert energy to equity related topics.

We cannot find a crystal clear platform to discuss only the stocks & I believe something is better than nothing in this situation.
Some already got fed up with the market and looking for ways to release the frustration. And at the sametime some are posting incorrect info via fake IDs.

Slstock is doing a wonderful voluntary job here.

I think it’s time to the owner of this forum to recognise the service he is doing in this forum.
