The newly appointed CEO, Jehaan Ismail, is still collecting shares from the market.
By 31.12.2013 he had 300,000 shares in his account and so far he has collected further 95,000 shares.
Now he must be in 9th at top 20 list.

We have to see the direction of interest / TB rates in coming months.

They are managing about 12 billion between lenders/repo and debtors/investments , most are in Govt. bonds I think.
For each 1% difference in interest expenses and income they get 120 million, i.e. EPS of Rs. 1.20

They also have increased the Investment securities from 90 million to 1130 million during the year.

According to their Chairman, ( in July 2012) they appointed the new CEO, Mr. Jehaan Ismail, who is with international banking experience including HSBC, in order to transform CFVF into a full fledged investment banking entity and he (CEO) has already started the ground work.

when the 1% interest rate increases or decreases it makes EPS of Rs.1.20 ?

If interest rate decreased only, if increased they may lose ( no chance for rates to go up)
PDs make bloated profits this year. Banks will have huge dealing profits this year though capital gains.

PBJ has talked about the outlook of interest rates , they are likely to go down. That's why all govt entities are borrowing outside ( NSB & BOC, PB may also go out and borrow if necessary). So, its only equity & market should go up.

In addition to salt's contribution,

Is this the phenomenon we have to understand ? :-

CFVF have bought TB and bonds with agreed high return rates prevailed .
They have to pay interest to the lenders for the money they use to buy those bonds.

When interest rates go down they have to pay less money to the lenders. But, they receive agreed return without any decline when the bonds get matured.

That means, when the interest rates decline their cost of capital go down. (% of difference I mentioned earlier will grow)

Governor PBJ is now talking about the declining rates.

I am not an expert on this.

First capital was the playing field of Ajth Devasuredra , the King of Bonds.
When we were in the same class he did not tell us about anything other than cricket.!

After the fraud and to instill some investor confidence management should look at an incentive ( dividend). Clear signs are shown that CFVF is recovering but as other mentioned big chunk of their profits are dependent on the fall of interest rates ( which is likely to happen)

By the way, Collecting by CEO or Directors, is it always a good sign?? On the other hand selling by CEo or Directors is it a warning sign to the investors?? Last week DFCC Chairman sold 10,000 shares @140.00. Is it a sign that DFCC share price has no room to go up???

I think Buying is always a good sign. This is because there is a choice. Buy or dont buy. On the other hand, Selling is not necessarily a bad sign. They may have some short term need for cash or they may be selling to take new shares cheaper under ESOP etc. I guess it depends on the Fundamentals of the share. If they are selling a fundamentally good share like DFCC, then it may not be a bad sign. On the other hand if PCH CEO is selling, then time to flee...... !

Alchemist- Thank you for a good insight.

Also would like to add that 140*10,000 shares is only Rs 1.4million. Probably a small fraction of his shares.

ALchem , there is another big fundamental with 12 month PE of about 3 and NAV about 0.75 being sold by a director. I think you know. Can't be a right issue as it is crazy to go for rights at this stage. Maybe it also fits to your description.

Yes slstock, i too, have been watching this very bemused. In fact, when 3rd Q results came out, i bought some at slightly higher prices than Director selling now ! He should be "banned" Smile
I know lots of people who bought this around 300 in fairly big qty and are also not amused. Good you reminded me, must make some calls on tuesday to try and figure out why he's trying to "be a man" ! I must figure out the family relationships and connections. (i have a relative who works in a part of the group). Will keep you posted. many people have bought this at 300 expecting split/bonus at that time perhaps at height of Bull run rumour mill in 2010/2011. According to Jake Sully formula, is a 2.25 ! or are we in for a shocker 4th Q ?!

I thk that particular director looks not experienced trader who sold massive qty at 240-250 then bought at about 190-200, again selling half the price at which he bought. The only possible of his selling becz of possible reduction in March quarter profit- may be short term requirement of money..

@ Alchamist, If you know any info about his sale just share with us.
