Sri Lanka tea production for March 2013 totalled 32.1M/kgs vis-à-vis 28.9M/kgs of 2012, showing a growth of 3.2M/kgs. When analyzing the production of High, Medium and Low Growns of March 2013 vis-à-vis 2012, a growth in respect of all elevations are indicated, with High growns in particular showing a significant gain of 20.3% YOY, (As detailed on page 10) followed by Medium and Low Growns.
When analyzing the cumulative production for the period January - March 2013 of 81.0M/kgs, show a gain of 6.08M/kgs vis-à-vis 74.9M/kgs of 2012. Here again High Growns totalling 19.1M/kgs show a gain of 2.01M/kgs vis-à-vis 17.0/kgs of 2012, whilst Low Growns totaling 48.8M/kgs show an increase of 3.5M/kgs vis-à-vis 45.2M/kgs of 2012, followed by Mediums with 2013 total production of 12.3M/kgs showing a gain of 0.46M/kgs vis-à-vis 11.8M/kgs of 2012.
CTC production too for March 2013 of 2.2M/kgs show a gain of 0.3M/kgs vis-à-vis 1.9M/kgs of 2012. High and Medium growns have shown a significant gain YOY, whilst Low Growns show a marginal decline compared to the corresponding month of 2012. January - March cumulative CTC production totaled 5.8M/kgs, showing a gain of 0.94M/kgs vis-à-vis 4.8M/kgs of 2012. It is also noteworthy that High Grown production of 0.9M/kgs for 2013 show a growth of 57% vis-à-vis 0.59M/kgs of 2012. Medium and Low Growns too have shown a growth YOY, but to a lesser extent.
