Fundamentals are sometimes fun-da-mantals.. UR correct, we bought blue ships in the past thinking that those have strong fundamentals. Whether they have or not, those were over-priced then. We've been paying premiums to buy those companies.
Any why would've us done that? We thought the future was bright and those would appreciate more and more.. The reality is none would go like that..
Every stock reacts to market situations, so we would've thought that..

Past is past, now that we know this, its better we select the stocks and do the valuations to justify the prices they trade.

Is JKH the only conglomerate in SL? Cant any other company be in the state of it in 5-10 years time?

Yes, I think we both looked at LOLC when it was around Rs 120s.

Looking at the valuations of the time LOLC did look bad. But gradually the bear killed all shares with the downtrend and the economic factors eating into company profits.

One lesson re-learned Mr Market dictate term no matter what we think about a share. In a down trend fundamentals are useless and some bad news will come and people will panic.

Have you noticed a certain share can trade at PE of 1.5 and NAV of 0.13!! But no one rushes to buy. There might be good reason for it though.

When the bear rules, people will sell their ati-kukulas and pettagamas also beyond bargains.

When the bull rules, people will chase shares to overvalue them by large amount. So at that time Mr market will dictate term to entice people buy shares at is 3 times current price.
