TJL has been hailed as the best share for a long time and it has kept its performance at impressive levels

Good management, expanding factories, reducing its energy costs, increasing margins, good order book, GSP +, improving US economy, exchange rate gain, no debts, good dividend pay out, cotton prices, good fundamentals, great performance, under valued compared to other shares

Some of the reasons TJL is the king

Well I truly agree with all the facts . But isnt it some kind of promotion that you are trying to make at this moment? If we have heard something news, a press release or even a recent publishing of quarter reports must back your statement. Anyway no doubt that is a good share in our market and we salute the management of this company

US is the largest buyer of ours and if they put sanctions that will affect every aspect of our economy. definitely if so tjl will be in bad shape

Even the HR resolution is passed  sanction will come after two three years

not immediately

If govt can take correct action we can prevent it

Don=t worry about sanction

It will not effect stock market much

IMHO TJL depend on following factors -
1 cotton price
2 how far they will expand out side Sri lanka. Sri lanka garment trade will not expand hugely due to work force restrains. unless we allow outside people to come and work. So india project is vital.
3. setting on cash pile will not give good returns in feature.

@DG, I thought the other way round. Any sanction may badly affect our export and CSE. Potential investor may look for other markets.

I dont think there wont be any sanctions - dont worry! Placing any sanction on SL doesnt benefit US because we import more from US than we export there I think. So I dont think so.

US cannot make sanctions through UN. bcz Russia and China will support.

but US can put own sanctions with sri lanka. that means USA will not allowed to sale or purchase anything from sri lanka. in that case TJL(specially) will face big problem.

this type sanctions can put within short time. at the moment some other Asian country has GSP+ also.

don't take too much risk.

From a (minority ) Investor's point of view, there is a fundamental weakness in this company .
Not sure, why no one commented on this.

There are  two major shareholders who jointly own 70% of the holding. One is involved in the supply of the main raw material, and the other is involved in the purchase of finished product.

In this type of situations,  the expectations of the major shareholders (  Return on their  Investment in the company) may not necessarily align with  that of minor shareholders ( dividends, share price appreciation).

We also must remember that the top dividend paying companies, namely NEST, CTC, and LLUB the controlling parites have in excess of 70%, and they pay higher dividends in rupee terms, over time the minority shareholders have got massive returns, by way of regular dividends, and capital gains. TJL too 'may' follow the same path. If they do which I strongly believe will happen, then I love to a be minority shareholder of TJL. Laughing  Laughing  Laughing

But they dont do any business with each other - do a research visit to company and see

They look after shareholders very well - good dividends

Appreciate  your interest in the subject , ( and lol:)
However it seems you have completely missed the point.
It's not 70% holding, hope you'll read it again.

The involvement/ relationship of principle shareholder of NEST,CTC or LLUB  with the company,  is only in shareholding. They are not a party to  any operational activity which significantly affect profitability of the Company, like  supply of raw materials or  purchase of finished goods. That's the difference.

However I have not said anything about major shareholders r doing business with each other.
I commented on  the fact they are doing business with the subject company, which activities significantly affect the profitability of the company.

Yes but if at all its an advantage! they have steady orders! The people managing the company are good people who wont play out shareholders. I think they said they had an agreement not to give products to each other at subsidized rates. If they did, how could they have made such big profits and given such dividends? Results speak for itself - this is a good share and everyone should have in portfolio (25% or so)

I dont think there wont be any sanctions - dont worry! Placing any sanction on SL doesn't benefit US because we import more from US than we export there I think. So I dont think so.

ITs not whether it benefits US or not.. its about their pride.. Firstly, US is a country still cannot end their wars with all the latest military equipments.. And a small country as such, SL has ended its civil war and all citizens now live in peace.
Secondly, they cant stand the fact that SL doesn't give a damn about their probings and requests.

On the other hand, mp in Jaffna carnies out his own games not respecting the SL flag either.. I think these kinda efforts should be cut short. President should issue warnings to these ppl for hampering the peace efforts and if not adhered the similar efforts should not be entertained and stopped by whatever the means necessary.. This could be the first step to another Elam if actions are not taken immediately.

So in a country wit Sanctions, SL business community will face difficulty bringing raw materials, doing business globally, etc.. For example, when US launched sanctions against Iran, SL couldn't buy crude-oil and had to buy it form Saudi. Likewise, there will be repercussions on SL with sanctions as other countries will not be in a position to do business wit SL.

TJL is a really good share with a noticeable dividend policy. So what will happen to TJL exports if sanctions come? I'm also very keen on this counter but this sanctions issue is an eye-opener.

Guys I don't want to blow a bubble. TJL is good share with good management and good dividend policy.

But note TJL recovered from Rs 7 to 16 already and back to over IPO price. Yes if good earning are reported it can go up further no doubt. But % wise , don;t forget there are other beaten down discounted shares at CSE.
