They have hidden the statement below the 2006 statements. Maybe they don't want anyone to see the "dissapointing" results.

Yesterday around 6pm it was at the correct place not hidden at the bottom. Anyways CFVF went passed Rs21 anticipating benefits from a lower interest regime. After Rs2 dividend I decided to part with them since saw early signs of not doing well from June quarter.

Are you looking at Income to compare between quarters ? From what I see the Income can vary between quarters.

Somewhere the interest TB rate drops from 10+ to 7 have to be reflected. I see their investments have increased. If they know what they are doing , there will be reason for that.

Earnings per share increased around 78% from 0.88 in 2012 December quarter to 1.57 in 2013 December quarter owing to gain on fair valuation of financial investments.

Most probably they may give another 2 rupee dividend similar to last year end of fourth quarter.

The following portion of their report explains as to how they get advantage over fluctuating Treasury Bills/Bonds rates.-

"First Capital Holdings PLC

REVIEW OF OPERA
TIONS
First Capital Holdings PLC recorded a turnover of Rs. 1.33Bn for the nine months ended 31 December 2013. This signifies a growth of 15% when compared with the corresponding figures in the previous year. The Group’s net trading income for the period under review was Rs. 398Mn, an increse of Rs.76Mn over the same period in the previous year. Further, the Group reported aconsolidated profit after tax of Rs. 263Mn, which was a 15% increase over the corresponding period in the previous year, mainly due to higher gains on sale of Trading Securities, partly off setting higher administ
ative expenses.

First Capital Treasuries Limited, the group’s primary dealer arm was again the primary source of revenue, taking advantage of interest rate movements and exceeding targets. Other business segments like Structuring and Placement of Corporate Debt Securities and Investment Management (Corporate Debt Securities) also contributed to the results, although performance was below expectations. We were able to hold strategic trading positions in the primary dealer business and benefited through the continuous reduction of policy rates made by the Central Bank of SriLanka (CBSL). Both the Standing Deposit Facility Rate (Repurchase) and Standing Lending Facility Rate(Reverse Repurchase) were reduced by 1% and 1.5% respectively during the period under review Currently the Standing Deposit Facility Rate and Standing Lending Facility Rate stand at 6.50% and 8.00% respectively."

What should help them is interest rate drops ( not lower interest rate regime) .

But also during lower interest regime, their other sources of income ( stock brokering, Debt issues)  can pick up.

Below is  nothing to do with you Leon ( so don;t worry).

It seems there lot of people to TAKE  in the forum but very little people to give .  Those people who give get nothing.

One fine day maybe not too long  when the "good" is gone only  people will  realize/miss.

I saw the thread very late but thought of posting the EPS plot of CFVF anyway.
It looks the still the Earnings trend is OK for them; Isn't it?
