My gain is 62,455. This equals to a 6.24% for the day. Today was one of those rare good days in the CSE. So the sustainability of this growth is questionable!

One point that needs to be addressed is that many players have included super illquid shares in their stock picks. There is no way you can collect 100,000 rupees worth of those shares without the price jumping up 50% and collecting a million rupees worth (some people have only 1 item in their pick) is going to be impossible.

So I think for round 2, a limit ought to be set for each stock. The limit should be not more than 50% of that stock's weekly turn over.

1)
Totally agreed. Some people picked all illquids of which some of them only trade few hundred shares in a week. Collecting Rs 100000s will be a problem. As any share and any mount is allowed in the rules for round 1, these shares will also suffice for now. But what Tubal said need to be considered as obtaining that many shares in the portfolio is doubtful given a period of short time.

Example : PARA only 600 were traded within the month so far. So some even collecting Rs100000 worth for the competition would have been a problem. Before May 4th.

2011-05-05 2200.0 2200.0 1850.0 1850.0 300
2011-05-04 1900.0 1900.0 1800.0 1800.0 200
2011-05-03 1900.0 1900.0 1900.0 1900.0 100

2) I also mentioned the below issue before

"Quibi, also it should be made clear that the end of the last day price matter or the highest price it reached within the period.

Example X share pirce now is Y
On may 20th X share price is Y + Rs 50
On May 31st X share price is Y+ 20.

According to current rules it appears that if a price of a share goes up in the middle and comes down on the last day it is just too bad. So a investor need some luck ( even for non manipulated shares) that it stays highest at the end of the Month to succeed ? This can get tricky."

Some may have 50-100% gain in a day with an illquid. At the end ofthe month is what counts? So guys who have gains with illquid manipulations , don;t just get excited yet. End of the month is what counts.

3) If someone pick MIRA ( for example am not picking out any individual ) 1 million worth going with a trend or gamblng at the end ofthe month it may give 100% gain or it may give - 70% loss. Its gamble.

So we should have a competetion for the BIGGEST LOSER as well. Twisted Evil

ps : I did not participate in the competition. So this is from 3rd person point of view. Ps noticed you comment Meta. I share your view.

Yes no rule like that or anything near was mentioned till some people saw their gains were low Smile
BTW in real market if you by some of the illiquid it will already be in a run ( you can easily make 100%- 200% gain in some cases) and the first few shares you by will be quite cheap compared to other stocks! How can you imitate those in a portfolio then ?

Also it was clearly said its the end date price thats taken in to count I think at the start and in the middle of this tread as well! ( OFC for stocks I pick highest price would be the best! )

Warren Buffett says, “Diversification is protection against ignorance. It makes very little sense for those who know what they are doing”

I m not sure if Innam can buy 1m shres of NEH at the closing price. Cos to buy you will have to go to the seller's price. The spread is LKR 239.90 (34.06% range)
