Would you mind telling me how to value their tea venture, fixed assets land and tree? Do they have coconut too? Would you mind naming link to study timber value, other agri crops in plantations companies: MASK, AGAL, ELPL, and BOPL? Reports say higher tea prices are fetching for all varieties of quality Ceylon Tea. Why is the trend different from Kenyan tea prices? Are buyers looking for quality? Cheers.

I just found following link.

http://www.tea.keells.lk/marketreport.htm

Sri Lankan Tea Sale Averages for the month of February shows a positive variance for the month as well as to-date when compared to the corresponding period of 2013. The Total National Average for February 2014 at Rs.481.83 is Rs.59.15 above 2013 and Rs.72.19 to-date. Significant gains have been recorded for the month from Low Grown at 17.4%, Medium Grown at 9.4% and High Grown at 7.5%. As anticipated, January Tea Crop of 25.4 Mkgs recorded a 9% increase when compared to the previous year.

Today’s Ex Estate market comprised of 1.06 Mkgs, met with improved demand. Select Best Western BOPs sold well on special inquiry following quality, whilst most others were irregularly lower. In the below best category, prices declined by Rs.10/- to Rs.20/-, whilst the plainer sorts were lower by Rs.10/-. Select Best Western BOPFs appreciated by Rs.10/- to Rs.30/- following air mail inquiry, others too were dearer by Rs.10/- to Rs.20/-. Below best and plainer sorts were irregularly dearer. Nuwara Eliya BOPs were firm to at times dearer, whilst the BOPFs appreciated by Rs.10/- to Rs.20/-. Uva / Udapusellawa BOPs were easier by Rs.10/-, whilst the BOPFs too were tending slightly easier with some of the poorer sorts remaining unsold. Select Best Low Grown PF1s were easier, all others were Rs.10/- to Rs.20/- dearer. High and Medium PF1s were mostly firm on last levels. Low Grown BP1s were firm to Rs.10/- easier at times, whilst High and Medium types were fully firm on last levels.

There was fair demand for the 3.3 Mkgs of Low Grown that were on offer. In the leafy category, Pekoe/Pekoe1s were absorbed well. OP1/BOP1s were slightly lower, whilst OP/OPAs were mainly firm. The semi leafy and small leaf varieties also were well absorbed although prices tended irregular at times.

There was fair demand from Russia, whilst the Iranian buyers too showed better interest.
