Many companies exposure to credit should benefit due to lower interest expenses. They will have opportunity to expand their investment as well due to lower interest rates.

Interest rates down or up, banks are the beneficiaries. Very Happy

It fattens their cut from deposits vs loans.
For example, they promptly lower the savings interest. But the loan interest is lowered after considerable delay.

They are the fat cats thriving with our money..

Low level confidence placed on the market does not fully attract the investors to divert their investors from deposit base to capital market arena. This is the lacking part of our system. Though one leg is cured other still needs a clutch. The day it is thrown away, many will enter into the scene.

There is a com.bank that claims to be known as the best bank in SL.
My foot. They' are beginning to be cheats.
The interest on loans given to customers are not adjusted according to the Inter commercial bank average DF rates declared by the CBSL.
A loan was given on a floating rate basis with a minimum and maximum range to a friend of mine. Even though the interest rates plummeted from the 17% range to 8% they had not reduced the interest on his loan. Now call that a NBR. 1 bank?

Until He spoke to the manager about 10 times they had not changed it for two years. Normally, it has to be reviewed every six months.
However, three years ago they had promptly changed the rates when the rates increased.

Double standards.

Still the manager refuses to admit his fault. Blooming rouges.

Rocky you seems to have a valid point. I ave also some bad experience.Even in same bank, standard of Branches differ.Mainly owing to the attitude of the branch manager.

In theory when interest rates are down investors tend to invest in stocks, land or other businesses. However in Sri Lanka stock market has lost its credibility, no other form of steady investment and investors will keep their money in banks even at interests lower than inflation.
