Question:
My Aunty's Boyfriend gave me Rs 1 billion and he wants me to invest this money in the Colombo Stock Market. He wants me to invest this money in good stocks that will give him 100% return within next 5 years. He wants me to invest money in good growth sector companies without downside risk with an opportunity to takeover. He say maximum he could lose is 20% of his investment. If I lose more than 20% then I lose my job!

Answer
So I took up the challenge to invest my Aunt's Boyfriend's Money in the following manner. I will reveal how am I going to invest his money. Meanwhile, please feel free to give your answer?

You are wrong. Your investment may be doubled. But you should return 2 billion as you promised.
Otherwise it is not 100% profit. You could only enjoy with dividends as you said.

Simple way to win this with your VSTOX game. Can't do in real world but can do in Vstock world.

Solution 1- With 1 billion buy 3.5 million shares of RENU at 280. This will give you 51% and control of the company. As the controller you make the auty CEO and the aunties boyfriend can be made CFO. You make the current CEO stingiah as the tea boy.
Since you have control you start selling the liquid assets RENU has 1.6 billion in investments. You sell that and turn it to cash and with the 1.4 billion in cash on the balance sheet RENU will now have 3 billion total cash.
You declare a special dividend of 3 billion (since you own 51% you get 1.5 billion in cash). Turn RENU into a brothel and make some money for abt 3 months. Afterwards the 3.5 million shares you dump in the market at 100 rupees each. You now have total 1.85 billion in cash. This you invest in a 10% FD and at the end of one year you get 2 billion.
So 1 billion profit in 1 year.

Solution 2- With 1 billion buy 3.5 million shares of SHAW at 280. This will give you 70% and control of the company. As the controller you make the auty CEO and the aunties boyfriend can be made CFO. You make the current CEO as the gardner.
Since you have control teh company you start selling the liquid assets SHAW has 2.4 billion in bank deposits. You turn it to cash and you sell the 770 million in inventories (all ready the company has done it in April). Then sell the investment property of 660 million and pay off the liabilities of 400 million. You can cancel the MOI with UDA for the 10 million USD property project. SHAW will now have around 3 billion total cash.
You declare a special dividend of 3 billion (since you own 70% you get 2.1 billion in cash).
You now have total 2.1 billion in cash. This you invest in a 10% FD and at the end of one year you get 2.3 billion.
So 1.3 billion profit in 1 year.

Two ways to get more than 1 billion profit but only workable in VStock world. Above methods can be used in other low PBV stocks but RENU and SHAW are the best since they have liqid asses.

In real world get the aunty to marry the boyfriend and then feed him to death. Then you marry the aunty and take the 1 billion.

Interesting answer from Jiggy. I wonder whether there are any companies in the market with the controlling shareholdings available for sale.

Aunty's Boyfriend being known for what he is good at, might end up buying the controlling interest of few companies along the way. I guess both Jiggy's and Quibit are hinting that only way to make such big real profit is to buy the controlling shareholding of a company. This means market manipulation through the Takeover and resultant General Offer. This is food for thought for small investors who made not have the money or muscle for a takeover bid.

I would like to go behind value stocks with growth potential. As every industry has risk and returns it is better to have some risk management ideas. It is also better to look for Companies with great businesses. There should be demand for their products in good and bad times. These businesses should link to mega trends in the country and Asia. There are cycles for lot of industries, commodities and currencies. Currencies such as NZD, AUD and commodities such as coffee, cotton, rubber, palm oil, coffee, oil, gold, silver and grain etc had some of the greatest major uptrend during last couple of years. In the coming years we will see some of the longest rallies for some other emerging commodities. In the currency market both NZD and AUD will go to bear market territory sooner than later. There will be new bull currencies. Finally it is not too big to fall. It is not the size matter. Companies either small or big they should have some great plans, innovative ideas and sustainable businesses. Today’s unfavourable industries will become favourable industries in the coming decade. So there are opportunities in coming bull currencies, stocks and commodities. I would like to avoid bear currencies, stocks and commodities in the coming years.

Finally, What about if we can identify great company having faster growth in the coming quarters and years? Say we are going to see some of the following characteristics in the coming years in the company that we are going to pick.

1.They are going to have and going to maintain their return on equity over 18% in the coming years and decade.
2.Their market will expand locally and foreign countries dramatically.
3.Company management has strong management skills and innovative ideas.
4.If they have debt, they are going to reduce it dramatically when they create more cash flow in the future.
5.They will have some great future earnings and strong cash flow in the future.
6.In the future they will have strong balance sheet, less debt, good working capital and more cash
7.They will have better cost control systems, better production control and risk management systems
8.Their turnover, profits all going to improve in the future
9 Company is going to have beautiful story.
10. They will have profitable investment opportunities.

In short if the company is going to become cash cow and I don’t my putting all money in that company. Can we find a company like this? I am looking for a company like this. If we can include at least one great winner, then we can not only recover losses that we made in the past but also we can outperform the market.

We can expect 100% return from the following sectors during next five years as long as we pick future growth companies.

Banking and Finance
Diversified sector
Poultry Group
Tea Group
Selected hotels

Tourism growth will be there. So hotels will have growth. Hotels cannot run without trained staff, food and transportations. Hotels need more fish, lamb, chicken, egg, vegetables and fruits etc. So chicken companies will have demand for their products from hotels in the coming years and coming decades. In addition chicken consumption is going to increase along with rising per capita income. Tea is going to become one of the emerging commodities in the world. It is going to become one of the healthy drinks too. So Tea producers are going to benefit lot in the coming years and coming decade. Diversified companies having good business too will have growth. Better managed banks also will have growth. If companies can maintain higher growth in the future even they can become multibaggars.

Also in a bull run forums will grow. So Valuepricks will have demand for their talks and stories.
Then Valueprick can be very powerful and promote BFL. How the power?
