This is the first & final dividend for the financial year 2013/14. You can expect more dividends in coming quarters.

The second quarter results will be very good for ESL since the interest rates are at the bottom.

This dividend is for the financial year ended 31.03.2014.Not for the current financial year 2014/2015 which will end 31/03/2015.So we can expect another dividend most probably a big one for this year. Last fin year their profit increase was 104% and EPS was Rs8.32 as at 31/03/2014. But the magical figures we can expect for the current financial year. Their 1Q14/15 report was an increase of 1239% over 1Q13/14

Both ESL and CFVF doing same business.
so comparison should done on these two.
On PBV and PE basis no doubt ESL is on top.
But my concern is not the dividend yield, but the dividend pay out ratio
For ESL it is about 19%
For CFVF it is more than 80%

It is good for ESL to keep their profit with them in order to diversify. But in the view of small scale investors what worries is the dividend. In the longer run ESL will perform better if they mange the profit efficiently.

In the case of CFVF they usually pay most of what they earn. For the next financial year the dividend may exceed Rs.6

This low interest era will not remain for years. In a time of increasing interest rates both will fall.We saw what happened to CFVF during 2012

Now we are seen much more interest in CFVF than ESL IMHO purely based on dividend
It will not take much time to pass ESL by CFVF Very Happy

best thing is to buy both ESL and CFVF because in any case you can earn profit.
And do not forget buy some CSEC the holding company of CFVF as well. Very Happy
