From the 6 funds we monitor, no changes in position by way of selling bonds was observed during the quarter ended in September 2014 except for a few redemptions upon maturity. However, they have increased their position in holdings of bonds maturing in 2019 during this quarter.
The market value of the total holdings across all maturities has risen 6.52% by the end of the quarter to US$946.4mn.
During the quarter, new additions of Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL) local bonds amounted to US$ 154.5mn, all of which were bonds bearing maturity in 2019. Redemptions totaled US$ 179.5mn from a bond which matured in July 2014.
We additionally tracked 5 funds which contained US$ 227mn worth of investments in GOSL bonds, including a US$ 31.9mn investment in a 2021 GOSL sovereign bond. The market value of total holdings across all maturities in these 5 funds increased by 2.5% from the last quarter.
Separate to the Templeton funds we have been tracking, the Aberdeen Asia Bond Fund showed a sell off of its holdings in a 2021 Sovereign bond.
