එජාප නායක රනිල් වික්‍රමසිංහද, කරු ජයසූරියද එජාප නායකයන් අතර සාකච්ඡාවකින් පසු ජනාධිපති ක්‍රමය අහෝසි කෙරෙන පොදු අපේක්ෂකයා ලෙස මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන මහතා ඉදිරිපත් කිරීමට කැමැති බව, මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් මැදිහත් කාර්ය භාරය ඉටුකරන 'සාධාරණ සමාජයක් සඳහා වූ ව්‍යාපාරයේ' මාදුළුවාවේ සෝභිත හිමියන් වෙත දැනුම් දී තිබිණ.

අද රැස්වන එම පක්ෂයේ කෘත්‍යාධිකාරී මණ්ඩල රැස්වීමෙන් පසුව එය නිල වශයෙන් ප්‍රකාශ කෙරෙනු ඇත.

ජවිපෙ, ජාහෙඋ, ෆොන්සේකා පමනක් නොව දෙමළ ජාතික සන්ධානයද මුස්ලිම් කොන්ග්‍රසයද මෛත්‍රීපාල සිරිසේන විපක්ෂයේ පොදු අපේක්ෂකයා ලෙස ඉදිරිපත් වනවාට මේ වන විට කැමැත්ත පළ කර තිබේ

General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Maithripala Sirisena today said that after serving as the Minister of Health for a period of 5 years, he now looks forward to serving the country with greater commitment in the future.

The Minister made these comments while addressing a ceremony at the Jana Kala Kendraya in Battaramulla this morning.

Speculation has been rife that Sirisena, one of the most senior members of the SLFP, is likely to leave the ruling party and contest as the Common Opposition Candidate at the next Presidential Election to be held in January 2015.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (20) signed the proclamation declaring his intention to hold a Presidential Election seeking another term.

The Election Commissioner Mahinda Deshapriya said he has received the proclamation of the President.

The Central Committee of SLFP on Wednesday (19) unanimously decided to nominate the party leader, President Rajapaksa, as its candidate for the forthcoming Presidential election

A source close to the government said that nominations could be called in December first week and the poll was likely to take place either on 3 or 7 January.

SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena addressing an event at Battaramulla a short while ago said, ‘this may be my last state function’, amid widespread speculation that he might break ranks with the incumbent regime.

“Time solves a lot of things. This may be my last state function. People give power not to abuse it and make money. It’s given to serve the people. This power should never be abused. No one should be drunk with power,” he said at a function to appoint officials to the Health Ministry.
It was rumoured that the minister had earlier rejected an invitation to address the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) news Conference scheduled to be held at the party headquarters in Darley Road

A lot of people comment here with political affiliation,
what I learn today is investors react negatively to instability. I don't think government had time to organize a mega share sell to create a situation.

we need to think about the country in long term we were just coming out of the mega mess we were in last 30 years. Things going to be bloody mess if we don't think long term with country first attitude.

Today is just a glimpse of what could come due to political instability in SL which was the mega plan of most of the western powers and LTTE rump.
I am actually sad. I am not a die hard MR supporter but I dream about SL leapfrogging , now it is not sure with people only thinking about their personal agendas. we cannot enjoy little wins at CSE when country could be in trouble.
