I have 5000 samp.shares which have bought for 200 sometime back. Is it worthwhile to sell them now and invest on small value shares like ubc, esl, csec, etc

SAMP is a great stock. I seems like you are a trader.

Please note in my view SAMP has a great future ahead and specially understand that SAMP is one stock that has not depreciated much in the current market down pore.

If you are a trader you have to understand that you need to have a great knowledge about the movements of the stocks you are going to pick. Rolling Eyes

If not better to be a medium to long term investor.Where you will reduce the probability of losses to a greater extent. Very Happy

I am 100 in cash. to be honest, I am confused. My worries are election crimes political  unrest among the people

I think selling and buying recommendations in this situation must be avoided.
BUT
All depends on individual financial position.

SAMP is one of the best stocks with very low risk. You can get good dividends too. I wouldn't sell.

When I looking at Sampath and Commercial both cx service is firly good but not as I expected. But I recently changed my debit card of Commercial because it was not working some time. When I changed the card they charged Rs 400 for that and its not because of damage. I remember when I opened the account they charged for issueing the card. But Sampath didnt doing like that. They issued new card for FOC and as I know they change / renew card for FOC. Seylan , BOC also issueing FOC.

What I am thinking is service is very important for banks to grow up.

Most of banks charge servicing fees little bit high though high competition exists among banks in issuing cards. Credit card transaction has become popular now, since it provides cash flow benefit if balance due is settled in time. It is true late payment charges are not yet adjusted to reasonable level in line with existing interest rates. Additional cost is stamp duty which thrives government coffers.
Back to share market, SAMP is most reliable & profitable share but not in short term. Temporary market stagnant has affected all banking shares. My preference is banking counters like SAMP, COMB, NTB,SEYB, PABC,HNB etc.
