Sri Lanka Telecom (SLTL) is one of the shares that had not benefited from the post war bull run that has been existence for over 2 years awaiting good news to take off. Other key listed telecom company Dialog Telecom (DIAL) short up from Rs 4/= level to Rs 12/= gaining more than 3 times of its share price after going through a difficult period of restructuring. SLT share performance is not noteworthy.

In April 2008 Global Telecommunications Holding gave a mandatory offer to the shareholders of SLT at a price of Rs 50.50

According to our sources SLTA is likely to release improved results for the year ended 31st December 2010. In anticipation of the good news SLTA share is currently trading around Rs 58/= per share gaining more than 20% from its two weeks high of Rs 48/=

Latest accounts of Sri Lanka Telecom is given below:

May be heavy burden put by their mobile arm Mobitel also might be one of the reason for the problem of SLT. After TRC implement the minimum Floor Rate for outgoing calls & restriction on Special Packages once again bring the mobile operators to back with some profits

So we can expect some improve performance in SLT & DIAL

Thanks

Actually all you ought to expect from them is bad news. Network upgrades will result in the old network being written off (see DIAL accounts of 2009) both mobitel and SLTL itself are going for network upgrades. That may result in a hit of several billion rupees.

Capital Alliance has already downgrade SLTL, waiting to see if any of the other firms do so.
