We Sri Lankans owe everything to him attributed to the fact that he himself, single-handedly ended a 30 year war. We elected him in 2005 so he could defeat the LTTE despite the fact that it wasn't even mentioned in his manifesto. In 2010 we elected him over General Sarath Fonseka to show our gratitude.
Now it's 2015 and he should be our president. Why? BECAUSE HE WON THE WAR! Allow me to elaborate more by equaling the current situation to the following example.
1. Your house is on fire.
2. Your neighbours come for the rescue and successfully puts out the fire.
3. Since they assisted, they claim that they have every right to take away a few valuables.
4. To show your gratitude, you willingly hand over your property, some expensive jewelry etc.
This continues for 10 years and solely because you want to show your appreciation, you give away everything you have despite the fact that you have now hit rock bottom. The same way how could you turn a blind eye towards the man who created an environment where you and I could freely update statuses such as this? Simple logic isn't it?
Furthermore how on earth could you forget about all the development projects he has initiated and the luxuries we the citizens are currently relishing? Your arguments are baseless sir After all you kidnap women and strip their families from whatever dignity that is left after their children appear on tv and put on oscar deserving performance.
The bottom line is that you can never be like our president. You'll never have the guts to appoint an ex LTTE carder who killed army personnel's, monks and civilians, as a minister. You can never take the law into your hands and strip an army general/ chief justice from his/her civil rights and take away his/her pension because they stood up against your autocracy. You wouldn't dream of threatening journalists or create an environment citizens get shot when they protest demanding for clean water. This sir is exactly why you are going to lose the election. Because we Sri Lankans enjoy being oppressed. Or rather we are senseless enough to not realize the extent of corruption that has been unleashed upon our country by the family regime. Nevertheless all the very best to you.

A citizen of Sri Lanka
