Most of the places won by mr.mahinda rajapaksa as seats wise even districts.although minor nationalities of population expressed their support to mr.sirisena with out any hesitation but majority of sinhalese (higher percentage) area support to mr.rajapaksa. as per the results one thing is crystal clear that a crucial situation will continue. Most people in south will unhappy with the result while mr.sirisena,s win will not reflect overall majorities in the country. Lot of hard works should do to assure peoples trust incoming.

Mahinda Rajapakse got these votes through intimidation, using 100% of state administration, media and resources, he tried everything in his power and beyond to get the votes, like a common criminal that he is. He paraded his true colours to the whole world.
MS without any help or favour from the government coffers managed to get the votes, which is all through  hard work. Just imagine if he had the backing like MR what would his vote count be today.

MORE YOU FORCE,MORE YOU LOSE..!!.Sri lankan voters are now educated and they like humble people. That was the main reason for MR's defeat and MS's victory.

Yes ice4083 you are absolutely correct. the undue influence, duress, misleading, frauds, fear, deceit and many other unacceptable to the gentleman politics inhibited at least further 500,000 votes. we expect not to repeat them in the future

You must be joking. There are winners and then there are...
Adolf Hitler was the runner-up in the second world war, very "strong" finish for the second place,
Soviet Union was the runner-up in the cold war, massively "strong" second place,
Then comes the other two and a half million other "strong" second place winners.

MS secured a "WEAK" first place. Now do the whoop dance.
