With the expected new venture with debt ridden SRI LANKAN Airlines which records billions of losses year on year will he loose his business empire?
Or he will be able to turnaround the debt ridden company ?
Is there any lease rights which is going to be matured near future?
Why he is eyeing such loss making company?

If HJ can not make Air lanka profitable I think there is no person in Sri Lanka to make it profitable. He has improved lot of loss making govt. institutions such as Distilleries , Insurance , Milk foods etc.

HJ is a capable entaprenour who could turn around this   venture. See what he did with Sri Lanka Insurance Corp. Consortium for this investlment is also very stong .

Excuse me, Sri Lanka Insurance was never making losses, they were one of the profitable government owned businesses. Currently also it's doing very in terms of profits

Kovida, there is no question about Haary Js entrepreneurial skills, but it is not fair to say that a financial giant like Sri Lanka Insurance was making losses. They were and are a very profitable government entity. Of course Haary J instilled many good private sector practices in to this government business

Most probably it will be a PPP.(private public partnership) where 51% will be held by government and 49% will be given to private including the management of the company.accordingly debts cannot be excluded.

Vijaya Mallaya and KingFisher is the best example for Harry J.

A variation that deviates state practices leads a business success by a thoughtful entrepreneur.

Within this month government will give its decesion.

To my personal view it is very diificult to make profits from air lines.last week Indian national carrier was unveiling its plan for selling off.(Air India)
May be HJ have a plan

Their Airlines have no significant role to play in their tourist industry
Sri Lankan probably play a bigger role bringing tourists to Maldives than their so called airline

What nirowat said is absolutely correct. Maldives didn't have a proper airline until very recently. Even now they don't have an airline that has 10, 20 aircraft.
