What do you think of CW Mackie. Into Rubber Plantation, manufacturing and distribution. These Gud should benefit immensely from the proposed fuel reduction and budget concessions.

Their cost of production should reduce as they use rubber milk as basic material for producing medical gloves,etc.. i baught this share in around 35 plus in 2009 and sell around 80. there are less shares outstanding in the market but the price is over value currently. We cant satisfy with its earnings but it can deliver a good result in future.

Before the Election Stock Market was one place well managed and performing well. Most of us failed to see the good things that had been done to bring market to a high level and never appreciated. We Sri Lankans only criticize everything.  Now the overal market valuation is high. Average P/E I think is nearly 20 but experts will know better.  So it is not possible for it to go up like in 2009/2010.  If that happens market will crash again. For ASPI to go up the good work must continue. More IPOs must come. Companies must perform. Foreign Investors should continue to have confidence.  But now people like Thilak Karunaratne and Malik Cader who destroyed the market once want to return. God help us. Because Yahapalane will not.

Yes it will go up after election. Not Presidential Elections but General election. All depend on who is going to get elected and what their policies are. Interest rates is likely to have an upward trend, budget deficit is going to get widen to 8% and inflation will go back to 10% Rs 10,000/= increment may not be enough to many after 100days.

I want to buy stocks low and therefore I am going to buy after General Elections and I will surely share my portfolio in the forum for the benefit of those followed me and made money during 2014.

Shining Star or Super Star,

The plan seems what is a natural thing to do, Even I advised my community (finance buddies) to get out before 8th Jan and good that they listened.

You may buy dirt cheap a few weeks later and by that time the ASPI will be lowered to 7000 ish. There are some good shares worth noting and from time to time they will be discussed in this forum in a sort of cryptic manner to prevent others who do not follow the forum in getting hold of the leash.

Where are all the experts who predicted and promoted that market will go after election? I am sure they don't have a place to hide their faces. That's why most are not be seen or trying to setup new forums so that they could continue live in their dream world.

Quibit you're quite the joke. I'm a new member but any professional worth his salt knows that you cannot rely 100% on an experts opinion. There's no strict trading rule that guarantees you gains and it takes one lesson in the trading world to understand that.

But to call out the experts and yell at them when their predictions go wrong is utterly unprofessional. Someone had an opinion - and I'm guessing their opinion was long-term based and not affected by the short term volatility of an interim govt. and mini-budget - and even if their opinion was proved wrong this does not speak about their character rather than the fact that it is UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE to predict the future.

The idiots who follow others in this forum in their stock picking decisions must correctly be branded 'idiots'. Do a little research and make your own decisions. Educate yourself. Then come back here for a professional and constructive argument. Any side may be proved wrong, but it is up to the eventual victor to show his true colors by being graceful in victory.

I don't know who the admin of this forum is, but they need to start doing some sincere moderating in order to encourage constructive discussions about stocks. All I see so far is "buy this" and "buy that" or "sell this" and "sell that" for no absolute reason indicated. Sure it's fine, you want to keep your reason a secret. But at least spend a few minutes to inform people of your logic.

This Quibit is a real joker and not a professional. She is asking who said this and that. This forum is only for discussion and not for buying advice. For your question, after the election it went up and after the budget market came down. Now who is wrong? Also this is only a temporary one due to the fact that they have imposed various taxes like one time super gain tax of 25% for organizations that record a profit of over Rs. 2000 million. All companies falls within this has come down and most of the banks comes into this category. So you mean to say it will not bounce back. It will. Again the market will effect during election time. As long as good governance and intelligent decision makers are their, market will not crash, but it may vary. So dont try to show your colors by asking where are those who said this and that as an admin person. Be a professional and not an amateur.

I have been branded, accused and harassed by so called promoters of the market saying that I am responsible for the downward market trend. Some have left because they did not want to believe what was said. Lot of people knew about this tax and that why there was a huge sell out JKH recently. Many thought someone was buying, but trust was that someone was dumping ahead of the budget.

So stop harassing people who give negative news. People who give negative news aren't jokers! They may be smarter than you!

I'm glad this decision was made.

People may disagree with Quibits non-constructive blaming of "experts" (myself included) but THAT IS NO INVITATION to violate his/her privacy and post information regarding his/her life.

This is a ban I support.

I said market will go up after election

Now i say this is a temporary phenomena.

Any way present present market is decided by market forces. Not by govt manipulation and not artificial trend. I am happy about this

Business community is not happy with  interim budget. Specially with taxes on company profits. We never expected this type of taxing from UNP govt.

That is why I said market will go up after election

AS DG said we never expected the new Government to impose a tax like this. But the problem is if they do not do that, the inflation will be very high and the income is not sufficient to pay even loans even without interest. So the market will be crashed anyway. All the figures given by the previous Government is incorrect. So the cash trapped government has to borrow again and again to manage the economy. When the previous Government in power, the tax amount we were paying is around 65% from every rupee you are spending. That type of a country wont last long (ex: Zimbabwe, Somalia, Ethiopia). So the first part is to put the country in correct direction.

I sold most of my shares before 8th Jan.
I knew this COMBO Cabinet won't mix especially with the JVP causing a drag and DNF gunning for vengeance for old wounds with a numbing effect of the radicals.

Also I knew that the then govt. would not let go power easily and would put up a show impacting the CSE. Many said the elections would not affect the CSE but it did finally. The mentality of people in this country is not easily understood. They have very fickle thinking patterns that are easily detracted.
Very Happy

This budget has increased the purchasing power of public. which will be good for most of the businesses. No corporates can survive without people.
