Current situation has created great opportunity for disciplined mid and long term value investors. Which sectors have more value stocks? What are the best value stocks in the market now?

Could #VPEL be classified as a value stock?

All stocks are dipping but this doesn't fluctuate more than 10c.

Qubit today market is trading below 7000? Your technical analysis is right. Market is having pullback due to short term issues and due to deprecation of few crowded and popular stocks in 2014. There are stagnated stocks as well as non crowded stocks. We don’t see any big selling in those stocks. Value investors are winners. It is very important day today. If it stays below 7000 market may go to around 6800/6900 level before it rebound again.

For the moment I have converted all my extra cash to FDs @ 12 -  13 %. P.a.

The indications are that within 6 months there will be an increase in interest rates drastically and the rates will be in the 14% averages.

So goodbye CSE for the moment.
Will buy some shares when the Index hits Quibits 6500 target.
Then I will consider.

Meanwhile I will enjoy the forum from time to time!

Price and patience is the key to stock market profits. Buy good businesses at a cheap stock price and hold them until they are no longer cheap. Ignore the patterns and noise coming from market. This market has more value socks in sectors like Banking and Finance, production, food, poultry and beverages and plantations.

You are right Valuepick,
Last week was a happy buying market!
Many of the value counters are in a low levels now, some of them are 52 weeks low or 104 weeks low levels now....
selling price of them are similar to a half rate now...
for Eg: LIOC was in 30 by July-Aug 2013, and it was in 40 by July-Aug 2014... It was 65 before 6 month. Now it is in...? 30......

Some stocks had correction when they had extended valuation within the short period. There are hidden value beauties also in the market. When market identifies them they will go up rapidly. If we analyse Sri-Lankan market it has more value stocks than some of the over extended market such as China.

There are stocks having below the P/E ratio of 8% having attractive valuations, future earning, higher ROE, strong out look and momentum. Even badly beaten down, out of favour plantations stocks also have more value.

Some value investors and long term investors prefer higher ROE companies at least over 15%. As there are different types of market players in the market there will demand for all types of stocks especially in bull markets. Value investors and contrarian investors like to stay with the strategy that they like.

There are out of favour stocks as well. Their short term outlook is not that strong. However, they can have strong demand suddenly due to turnaround situation, special situation and acquisition etc. Today’s loss making companies will become tomoorow’s profit making companies.

How about now? Is it wise to go behind growth stocks and some out of favour stocks as well?

I believe this market should give opportunity in the following types of stocks in the coming weeks and coming months.

Value stocks
Growth stocks
Out of favour stocks (they can become favorite stocks in 2016)
