Even in bull market we can see minor volatility, pullback and market pause. Stocks are going to adjust to their next base before they jump to the next level. I believe there could be opportunities in out of favour stocks as well. It is time to study out of favour stocks which can become break out and next wave stocks in the market due to much improved industry environment and attractive earnings in the coming months.

Good luck!

An industry or stock to which many analysts and investors do not pay attentions. They don’t pay attention to those stocks because they are busy with following popular crowded stocks and doing research on them.  There could be short, mid and long term opportunities in those neglected sectors, stocks and commodities. Most of these shares have value as other stocks have appreciated lot. In bull market it is better to identify winning stocks before others.

Some of the out of favour or neglected stocks in the market are:

KOTA
MASK
GRAN
BFL
SPEN

Favourite stocks in the diversify sector were JKH and HHL. However SPEN was out of favour in that category.  One time CINS was out of favour in the insurance sector. It was trading below Rs.26. After two decades now it is trading around Rs.1700/.

They can go up rapidly in a strong uptrend due to different reasons such as earning surprises, new opportunities, turnaround opportunities, value and growth etc. Remember stocks never stay as out of favour for ever.  Ex: Financial stocks were out of favour and later they became favourable stocks. Among above there are some initial signs for GRAN and BFL. They could become favourable stocks soon. SPEN also could have some rally in the future. In addition, there are lot of small and mid caps. They are very attractive and have neglected. Besides this is a bull market. Many stocks should go up in the coming weeks and months. However we need to study trend and future prospects before buying any stock. Future value, growth and earnings are more important than current earnings and past earnings. Any out of favour industry, sector or group can become suddenly bullish. Good luck!

ACME is an out of Flavour share capable of emerging into the radars of investors from this Q22015 onwards.

Senior Citizen thank you for posting ACME.

Gran has reported one of the strongest quarterly results.  This should consider has turnaround situation as well as earning surprises. I was expected EPS below 2 in this quarter. They reported EPS of 2.8. Next quarter also should give attractive results for poultry sector due to demand for poultry products from regional countries and lower grain and other raw materials prices globally.

It is time to identify few attractive value stocks with growth potential and turnaround opportunities before market reach next stages of roaring bull market.

If only GRAN and BFL can extract chicken fat for industrial use taking into consideration HALAAL consumers it will reduce the imports of essence of chicken, chicken fat, chicken direavatives and the assortment of by products.

It will reduce the COGS and COP of many manufacturers  of food and propel the F&B sector further.

Now whether there is sufficient demand for chicken direavatives is another question that industrialists have to answer.

The Hospitality trade is one BIG sector that will see great potential for growth. The tourism statistics prove this point based on the comparative influx of tourists between 2014 and 2015 has increased significantly.

The taste buds and demand for exotic foods and beverages too has taken great strides. People generally went for the humble Cuppa Tea or soft drink.

Now they demand the Latté or Nescafé. Request for their speciality coffees. Cappuccino for the really upstream niche market. Wines of exotic wineries for the upper middle and super rich populace.

Now this all happens in this country.
The other day I could not get a table for my family at the Cinnamon Lake Side as I could not make a reservation. So full. So you end up at the Ministry of Claws and dole out a tidy bundle of money (even though through credit card) for a sumptuous meal of course that would be served by Cinnamon at a lesser price.

So back to the point. What are the stocks going to break through this quarter?

Definitely the F&B sector!

Do you know that 80,000 MT of biscuits are consumed in SL in an year?

I saw your above comment in another thread.

It look likes biscuits entrepreneurs also have opportunity in Sri-Lankan market. Food and beverages are closely connected with humans. They cannot postpone eating, drinking and inhaling air. They need those in good and bad times. However, there is a threat to human world due to too much commercialisation in some areas and irresponsible approach to forest and environment. End of the honey bees means end of the human world. There is a threat for extinction of humble honey bees. They do better service to produce food to this world than humans.

I was following ACME for some considerable period. After the last results thought of remove it from my watch list as continue losses.

Any special reason for your comment? Shall I keep it under my radar?

It is time to study and estimate earnings during this earning season to get some idea about valuation of stocks and their prospects in this bull market. It is also wise to study and identify out of favour companies which can become favourable companies in the remaining stages of this bull market. CSE ALL share index just passed 7300. It is one of the important psychotically barriers in the market

Dear Raj, Senior Citizen, How are you...?
We think ACME is one of the 'out of favour stocks' now, but it is a loss making company ....
There was a golden age to CSE by 2010-11, we remember that time ACME was in 45.50!       (30 Apr 2010)
