Yes. Agree that the world is over producing agricultural products in comparison with the poor distribution systems available.
 

Lots of waste takes place and the distribution is not effective enough for the perishables. That answers the question about poverty and starvation.

Industrial consumption increased and the companies that produce have benefited by the reduced prices of raw materials.

But the smart companies who have the correct product portfolio know how to take advantage of the pricing on premium products. So they enjoy both the low COP and premium price due to their marketing strategies. They try to avoid the commodities that add no value. They only take up capacity and add more fixed costs.

Out of food index only The FAO Meat Price Index averaged 178 points in April, up 3 points (1.7 percent) from its revised March value. Other food indexes such as the FAO Sugar Price Index, the FAO Dairy Price Index, the FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index and the FAO Cereal Price Index down in April 2015.
