Colombo bourse closed with negative returns for the second consecutive session amid the political uncertainties. Main index swung between gains and losses where index crossed 7,090 mark in the opening hours but failed to maintain the optimistic momentum. All Share index shed 11.55 index points (-0.16%) to end at LKR 7,067.11 while 20-scrip S&P SL20 index declined by 8.48 index points or 0.22% to close at 3,915.85.

Price declines in high cap counters such as Ceylon Tobacco Company (closed at LKR 925.00, -2.6%), Nestle Lanka (closed at LKR 2,150.00, -2.3%) and Ceylinco Insurance (closed at 1,520.00, -5.0%) dragged index performance to red zone.
Daily market turnover recorded a 3-month low of LKR 329mn. Sampath Bank emerged as the top contributor to the turnover with LKR 23mn closely followed by Lanka IOC (LKR 22mn) and Regnis (Lanka) (LKR 21mn) respectively. No crossings were recorded during the session.

Out of 252 counters, 99 advanced, 97 slipped while 56 counters remained unchanged. Cash map marginally inclined to 47% from 43%. 13 counters touched while 52wk low prices during the day.

Eastern Merchants, City Housing & Real Estate and Lanka IOC were most traded counters for the day. City Housing & Real Estate advanced to LKR 15.80 (+24.4%) while Eastern Merchants continued to attract investor preference where stock advanced to LKR 12.80 but closed at LKR 12.20 (+4.3%).
