To answer your first question as a start let me say I am older than you but will keep the number secret for now Very Happy

I am a bit confused about your statement "initial investment LKR 2000/- total return from market LKR5million".
As others also asked did you only invest Rs 2000 totally and now it is 5 million after 5 years.

Thats over 2500x times initial investment! If that is the case you I will be all open to your suggestions as few would have been that succesful.

Would appreciate if you could elaborate and on "I just joined cos I thought I should give something back. " We would love to hear about your strategies more so we could also learn more.

hi all my friends, its nice to see all your comments. When I posted my comment I really thought that there would be many who has their own success stories and I though I can learn much from all of you guys and gals.

I thought there would be many self made milliners in this forum. I still believe that there are more successful people in this forum who dont want to speak up.

No offence my friend, that is a wrong conception. Stock trading is not a Zero Sum game. If you are talking about Forex trading you are correct.

mhh. true, stock market is not a zero sum game. sounds imply you have good knowledge and trying to figure out what kind of people to deal with, aren't you?

anyway, for your first question, i'm in share market for 3 years and was able to earn,
1 year- nothing, actually loss 4.3% of capital.
2 year- 65% earned
3 year- 115% earned

I start with zero knowledge, study little by little, learn many lesson by experiences.

I am 20..started investing when I was 18 years..started with Rs50,000..which was a gift.current portfolio value 135,000/=

Year 1-190% return
Year 2-80% return

I started like Xmart with very little knowledge..but learnt as time went on..

Having said that the above 2 years have been the best years in CSE history i think..Index returns were also above 110%p.a..therefore it explains the phenomenal return..
I feel our markets have matured to a certain degree..and it will be impossible to get these kinds of returns..maximum maybe 40-50% p.a if you are very good..

It is now the time where only the best Traders & Investors will be able to generate substantial returns.as the Index is almost stagnant..ASI May Index Return was 0.83%

Happy Trading...

The market has not matured, on the contrary the market has become more immature.

Up to now I've not seen any post from u clarifying ur initial investment and return saga as questioned by other guys..for you to multiply a 2000 u must've played casino under the guise of stock market it seems.. but no offence we all want to earn money so why dont u lay down the strategy or enlighten us of your successful story???

He hee.. asking others how much they earn is also a nice strategy my friend.. Twisted Evil

Its nice to have a down to earth millionaire in the forum.. welcome!!

if you have the right stocks, you should wait. at present, fundamentals are taking a beating. as tubal said, we must wait till the dumb money is thrown away.

currently i have almost a 10% unrealized loss in my portfolio bt was able to make very small profits thru small day trades since im not taking much of a risk

@NPP-my loss is realized,i'll reenter with solid shares after these three IPO's ,one of my pick is CINS,i love it....

@slstock-i lost in some good fundamental shares, and some speculative shares too,but i ddnt lost in illiquids,i had to sold to collect money for IPOs.....those are hard earned money.sometimes it is good to sell at lost rather than holding and bear opportunity cost.hope IPOs would work for me.

2000 ----> 5mn in 5 & 1/2.

If i were you after a couple of good years i would have liquidated all of my assets, take massive loan and invest all of them in the market. Had you done that you would have had alot more money right now.
