Local media report says if MR couldnt become a prime minister, he will not swear as a member of parliment but retire from politics. Then he can enjoy his retirement with president benifits. If the news is correct which is a smart decision from mr.rajapaksha.

Nice analysis, but the problem is that in 2010 Presidential Election there is no contested party call UNP.

But there was UPFA they won the election 2010 and increased the % buy 5% compare with President election.... The opposition was declined by specially UNP by 10%....
Do you expect UPFA to achived % in general election more than what they got in the president election 2015?....

It will Never Happen.... UPFA get this time less than 40%... write some where my prediction

[ltr]My question is that if RW gets 39.8% and MR gets 27.5%, total of these two is 67.3%. What was the outcome of the other 32.7%? Why this organization does not indicate the direction of the balance voters of 32.7%. [/ltr]

My Fellow forum Friends. But if any one of you have seen my political views in the past. I supported MR. But sadly I lost all respect after he accepted nominations to contest. How shameful from President to a normal MP, actually shows his greed for power. I question now why I really voted for him in the past. Every regime has earned from deals, but MR regime will go down in history as the most corrupt. I think absolute power corrupted the MR regime and they thought that they will never be unseated. All credit for ending the war has to go to firstly our valiant soldiers, past political leadership, SF, Gota and MR. it was a collective effort. But to get the country out of nepotism, thuggery bribery and corruption we need a new government. Any govt can build roads and infrastructure , keep the city clean it's their duty. We need to engage with The world , focus on being self sufficient. Have a non aligned policy and look at aggressively exporting.Cabinet has to be reduced the public sector should be made more efficient. Local products should be given incentives, Foreign factories should be encouraged to open with a percentage of local labour so that our people too could learn and then we could open our own factories. MR regime scared a lot of investors away, due to exorbitant commissions and sporadic policy decisions. They never called for proper tenders only family and henchmen benefited. They created a militarised environment. They created racial tensions. All for the love of them selves. You can say from MR face and wimal etc that defeat is eminent. The UPFA is going to lose by a big margin. ask anyone on the street they will tell you. They are sick of listening to MR's lies (I too was blinded for years but now I see the light thankfully). UPFA also has this denying policy where they will out right deny any wrong doing even though there is compelling evidence to prove every allegation against them. This may have worked in the past but come 17th MR will be put to rest. after elections MR family will be going to jail for a long time. some of the rogues would have already booked tickets to go abroad.  I hope every rogue is put behind bars for all our money that was robbed from us. UPFA will go down to about 75 seats or less . Balance will go to UNP, JVP,SF, SLMC and TNA. This 75 will drop further after all the ticks leave The dog. Stock Market too is reacting to a MR defeat that's why it is booming. GSP plus and other sanctions will be removed with a govt that is willing to indulge in dialog. hers's to a new country from next week. Jayaweva and GL

There's a big number of floating votes this time. Opinion Polls are indicating only the already decided voters opinion. Out of 32.& : TNA 4.5%, SLMC 3%, JVP 10%, Fonseka 2% and balance 14% is the undecided.  Surely UNF will bag the biggest chunk from the undecided and eventually they will get 44%. PA will get 32-35%.
