I'm a government servant who like to invest some portion of monthly salary(10,000 per month) in CSE(Kind of pension plan). This is for about next 15-20 yrs time and i would like to collect share now and expand those shares for above time period.
So please help me to find good fundamental, strong and dividant provider shares for my plan. This will be value to all.
Thanks

It will be grateful if you post with to what price i want collect and what would be the market price of that share in 20 yrs time
Thanks

We want people like you. You can gradually collect some growing companies which are trading below 10/- in CSE. as an example SIERRA cables. You can buy every month as a saving. GL

Good Luck!!!

once upon a time Ceylinco insurance were at  10/- but now its around 1000/- per share.

assume u bought 100,000 shares @ 10/- = 1,000,000/-
present net worth of your acquisition as at 2015 100,000*1000=100,000,000

wow!!! isnt' it??

so just select a good company which will make you a billionaire like ceylinco!!!... but i donno what are those companies

I agree with the idea of refreshing the portfolio at least every 5 years if you are investing long term. You have to calculate against the value of currency at present vs in 15-20 years time. Refreshing every 5 years would help you evaluate which stocks are looking good for the long term plan because even the mightiest may fall for any number of reasons.

Fundamentally Banks and Insurance companies would grow strong. Because there are less reasons for them to fail. SAMP (sampath), COMB (Commercial), HNB, CDB would be some to name a few banks. ARPI (Arpico),  JINS (Janashakthi), CTCE (AIA Insurance) would be some insurance companies.

Then there are conglomerates like JKH, NEST which are again good companies with less risk and bound to grow.

I would recommend these type of companies as they are financially strong and are growing. There are more companies which are in these sectors which you can also have a look at and see.

If we can find stocks like CINS and NEST in advance then they can become lucrative investment. One is belong to banking and finance sector and other one is belongs to food sector.

We need to do serious study to pick some long term investment. Already  some foreign and local investors have become long term investors by investing in sectors such as banking and finance , food and beverages, plantation, tourism and construction sectors etc. For them current share prices are not that important. They are looking for creating long term shareholder value. In addition they want to keep their ownerships due to long term value in their businesses. We should identify stocks in strong hand and strong management.

Both food and banking sectors will have growth in Asia due to following.

· With a population of over 600 million and growing incomes, Asia is expected to generate demand for high protein and convenient food products

· They will have to deal with banks and finance companies to carry out their businesses

· The middle class in developing countries is projected to increase 92% by 2023

Lands ar safer investment long term but you need large investment at once, but in equity you will get greater return if you picked the correct stock.
People who invested in comb, hnb or cins would have earned more money rather than holding on to piece of land for 20yrs.

In another 20 years:
*JKH might change their name and will get a casino license.
*Telecom companies may be out of business due to change of technology.
* insurance corporation would be the largest insurance sector company and most commercial banks would be merges including NDB and DFCC
* Colombo land price would be Rs 25mnper perch.
* deposit rate would be 3% per annum.
* ASI would be above 10,000
* SLEF will have 1mn members. Smile

Sri Lankans, eat, call and booze.
Food and beverage and mobile sector would have been the best gainers. Profits were taken away by smart investors. As the per capita income goes up food, shelter n clothing sector will benefit. Look at Maslow hierarchy of needs as a guide.

Ok
You have to study about the economy and trends and think in continuous manner and make is a habit. Stay aware of everything: world markets , impending wars and conflicts, debt situations , budget handling etc.

Time to time opportunities come to collect good shares at low levels. Think about future trends, robust entities and buildup portfolio. At the same time learn from each and every happening in the field.

Do not fall into 2 traps:

1. Whenever you get excess money you may try to buy shares. But, that might not the proper time for buying. Learn to stay calm until fishes appear for fishing. Do not rush. You have 25 years.

2. Do not go to FD trap. Fixed Deposits and savings accounts are for the lazy fellows. ( I saw someone advising for FDs)
Of course, you should save and keep some money for emergency use and for other necessities.  But, do not use those instruments as investments.
Simple theory: Saving interests are  fraction of actual inflation. Banks pay you interest from much bigger interests charged from their customers. That means there are people who earn for the banks and us. We lazy fellows do nothing and give our money to them to earn and take back what they give.

Investing in first 5-10 years may give you + and - . Those minus returns are the lessons to earn more in next decade.

Learning never ends. All the time new situations, formations created in stock market. Our past experience cannot guide us every time to conquer new situations.  Even most experience guy may fail time to time.
