Sri Lankans, eat, call and booze.
Food and beverage and mobile sector would have been the best gainers. Profits were taken away by smart investors. As the per capita income goes up food, shelter n clothing sector will benefit. Look at Maslow hierarchy of needs as a guide.

Ok
You have to study about the economy and trends and think in continuous manner and make is a habit. Stay aware of everything: world markets , impending wars and conflicts, debt situations , budget handling etc.

Time to time opportunities come to collect good shares at low levels. Think about future trends, robust entities and buildup portfolio. At the same time learn from each and every happening in the field.

Do not fall into 2 traps:

1. Whenever you get excess money you may try to buy shares. But, that might not the proper time for buying. Learn to stay calm until fishes appear for fishing. Do not rush. You have 25 years.

2. Do not go to FD trap. Fixed Deposits and savings accounts are for the lazy fellows. ( I saw someone advising for FDs)
Of course, you should save and keep some money for emergency use and for other necessities.  But, do not use those instruments as investments.
Simple theory: Saving interests are  fraction of actual inflation. Banks pay you interest from much bigger interests charged from their customers. That means there are people who earn for the banks and us. We lazy fellows do nothing and give our money to them to earn and take back what they give.

Investing in first 5-10 years may give you + and - . Those minus returns are the lessons to earn more in next decade.

Learning never ends. All the time new situations, formations created in stock market. Our past experience cannot guide us every time to conquer new situations.  Even most experience guy may fail time to time.

Start collecting now as most of the shares are at bottom now. Be on a averaging mode as towards December sell pressure will be more and some shares may go down more.
